Chart House is an amazing restaurant, been to the one in Newport Beach numerous times and always had amazing food and service.... Chart House Dana point on the other hand fell short compared to Newport. The food was good but you’d think for a $40 to $50plate of food you might get the entree with 2 sides. When our plates arrived the presentation was terrible, I mean they couldhave at least used smaller plates to make it look a little better. We had a reservation for a birthday and surprise to us ourbirthday girl had her name on the menu which was awesome! The only other downfall was that we arrived about 10 to 6pm for our6pm reservation waited about 15 min to be seated and didn’t get out of there until 8:15 so the waits were a little lengthy. But the view makes it all worth it. Therefore a 3 star overall for this Chart House. Thank you for a lovely evening. Read more

We had a wonderful romantic meal here years ago and tried to recreate it (knowing that lightning rarely strikes twice). But we... were thrilled that Chart House was still great - maybe better. We came for happy hour - highly recommended - and stayed fordinner and a stunning sunset. Any seafood is a good choice and their wine list is interesting. Try to sit out on the patio. Welove this place. Too bad we live thousands of miles away. Read more

Kind of expected more.... The location is amazing and the views are great, (that pic was from our table) but there were little... things missing. Food first: Got the lobster bisque, which was okay. Not bad, but lacked any depth. I've had so much better otherplaces. Main was the Mac Nut Mahi, which was...again...okay. The cut was very uneven so it was raw on the thick part. Not a bigissue as I like sushi and I'm sure it got hot enough to kill any parasites, but still. You expect your cooked fish to be cookedall the way through. BUT the flavor was good. Dessert was the key lime cheesecake. This was fantastic. Great lime flavor andtexture. It's made in-house and it shows. Drink was the Raising the Bar and it was top shelf. Service: Great servers and verynice, but I would expect in a nice restaurant like this that silverware would get changed out between courses. But in fact theopposite was the case were we had to ask for knives for our main course. We had to flag them down more than once for otherthings. When we were sat, they didn't ask if we wanted bottle water or tap and just poured tap. Like I said, just little things. But just think if they made those little changes how much more elevated the guest experience would be. I would go again, justwith lower expectations. Read more

This was my first experience at the Chart House and it didn't disappoint. This particular location is nestled right along the... bluff in Dana Point, and it's extremely popular. I would recommend reservations every time. Valet parking is the only optionat the restaurant, although you can opt to find parking on the street and walk in. The area does become increasingly windyduring certain times, so beware if you choose to walk a distance. The food was excellent, service was great and the cocktailswere tasty. The king crab legs were perfect. Make sure to ask for pre-cracking to make it a stress-free meal. I highlyrecommend their key lime cheesecake for dessert (if you have room). Read more

We had our wedding reception at Chart House last weekend, and the experience was wonderful. We received so many compliments from... our guests about the breathtaking ceremony outdoor view, the food and the “service with a smile.” Melissa, our eventcoordinator, was amazing. She answered all of our questions and emails promptly. We really appreciate her positive attitude, great suggestions, and guidance. On the day of our wedding, we were able to just relax and enjoy the experience as Melissa andthe Chart House ensured everything went smoothly. We would highly recommend Chart House to any bride and groom, or anyonesearching for a venue for a special event. Read more

The ambience is out of this world with spectacular views of Dana Point Harbor. The city Lights view was breathtaking. I ordered... the coconut shrimp entrée and the three dipping were all delicious. I got mine with mashed potatoes that were very nice too. Ihad a bite of my husband’s salmon and loved it as well. Great restaurant to celebrate a special occasion. I highly recommendit. Read more

What breathtaking views this place has. Perched above Dana Point, the Chart House boasts beautiful vistas of the ocean down... below. Once we found the place we couldn't tell at first of it was the correct place because of how hidden it was from the road. This only adds to the allure of the place. Then add to it the professional nature of the staff and the awesome tasting food, itwas a great experience all around. The Chart House gets two thumbs up from me ???????? Read more

Nice spiral staircase down to the restaurant. Nice booths all around the windows. Great outdoor seating with heaters. The staff... was great. The serving were spaced out so each course was not rushed. We had the shrimp cocktail and that was perfect. (Seephoto). We then had the clam chowder and that was thick and full of clams. Much better than most restaurants (see photo). We hadthe Callahan 18oz cut Prime Rib. Here is why there is a three star rating. The meat was to be medium rare. It came out browneron the outside. Cutting into it, the meat was pinker so we accepted it. It was chewy and a lot of fat on it. It was one of thebottom of the prime ribs I’ve had. I’ve had the best where you can cut the prime rib with a butter knife it’s so tender. Here, you really had to cut. Overall, the potatoes and asparagus were great. I’m sure the prime rib is not ordered in highvolume so it may be made one day and used into the next. Whatever the case, they need to get better beef. Do give the is place atry. I’m definitely confident the other offerings at this place are great. I’ve been going the the Chart House in Portland,OR for years and it has always been great so I’m certain you’ll experience good things here. Enjoy! (See photos) Read more
