I kind of figured fried chicken is fried chicken but I was wrong. Gus's is soooooooo good!! Everything we ordered was perfect... and delicious. My mouth waters every time I think about it. Deliciously seasoned and amazingly crispy skin with juicy chicken to the last bite. Only wish it was larger pieces. These looked... rather small for their size. The sides were good, not overly salted and accompanied the chicken very well. Reasonably priced.Would recommend and would go back. Read more
I placed my order at 6:13pm, the cashier was very nice and efficient. I ordered the 3 piece dark and asked for fries instead of... the standard sides; I was charged extra. The price of my meal went from $9.45 to $11.08 just for substituting out the sides. I'mnot terribly bothered by this, but it is definitely annoying...these are not premium sides we are talking about here. So Iwaited in my car for 12 minutes then came inside to check on my order. Still not ready but I saw a few employees packing ordersso I figured it would be up next. Over the next 15 minutes, I counted 3 employees prepare plates for themselves to eat. Thisplace only makes fried chicken for the most part, everyone that made the exact thing I had ordered and paid over 20 minutes agobut I was unimportant apparently. I ask the cashier about my food and she says it will be another few minutes and offers me abeverage for the wait. I declined because I was annoyed and just wanted my food. I asked her to replace the fries they had formy order because I had been watching them sit out in the counter for 15 minutes while the employees made themselves fresh friesand chicken. She said she have them drop new fries for me. After a few minutes she gives me my order. I should have checked myorder, had I done that I would have simply requested a refund and we wouldn't be here...unfortunately that didn't happen. Iarrived home and discovered they had completely scammed me! The fries that I had to pay extra for were burnt (they put the friesthat had been sitting out, back into the grease) and the portion size was unacceptably small; when I usually order this I amgiven about twice as many fries. Even the chicken was terrible. Very boney, very little meat and quite over cooked. To be fair,the food is usually very good but service generally leaves a bit to be desired. Read more
This isn't a Hood chicken place so don't expect to get a lot of food for their prices...it's a chicken joint on a college... campus.... The only thing that kind of makes up for the high prices and small portion sizes is the fact that it's a chickenjoint that serves alcohol. If you're looking for non-corporate fried chicken place and you're in the city stick to places likeNu Wave or any small chicken joint... But if you want some half decent chicken to go with your beer then this might be the spotfor you. Read more
