Ok. So. It?s Monday night! Hackensack. And I wanted something really good! And went to Tavern61!!! On River Street. Walked in... and was greeted from a beautiful dark haired Italian bartender. Who?s on fire by the way. The drinks were made literally in theblink of an eye to perfection. The bar had the perfect temperature after a day of 100° weather. The atmosphere was so invitingwith the music in the background that just entertained you to sit down and have a drink and stay. Of course being the foodeither I am I asked the owner if he could make me something special that wasn?t on the menu. Without hesitation he came out ofthe kitchen and said whatever you like we can do for you. The bartender turned around and was quick to say would you likeanother cocktail. I said yes! Sure. After getting the food and tasting it to perfection I was then offered an after dinnerdrink and a free dessert. The part tender who works on Mondays only. Her name is Katie. You must come and experience a Happy aMonday with her. I found out the Owner who was here tonight, named Gence!!!, has a specialty for food! You name it and he willensure the kitchen will do their best to make you what you want. I have to be honest I was very skeptical about places inHackensack as all the buildings are up-and-coming and the restaurants are not. We stopped in for a late lunch / early dinner and the entire experience was amazing. The restaurant was very nice inside, the... seats in the dining area were comfortable and the tables decently spaced out. There is a full bar with several TV's separated bya divider from the dining area. It has a really nice ambience. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, checking in tomake sure we were enjoying our meal and bringing re-fills, etc. The food was absolutely delicious, I ordered the Chickenspecial from the specials menu, which was a breaded chicken with prosciutto and mozzarella with a garlic white wine sauce. Thechicken was crispy and the prosciutto, mozzarella, and sauce were balanced perfectly. My partner ordered the tortellini special,and it was also really delicious. The sauce was really good and after finishing the tortellini the staff asked if we wantedbread for the sauce which was greatly appreciated. I also had a watermelon martini, made with fresh watermelon, which wasreally good. It was subtle but decently strong and the fresh watermelon was a really nice addition.
