Had a very polarizing experience here. The food is very good, and most of the menu is a great value for the money. The... atmosphere is absolutely lovely and feels very cozy. Everyone was very friendly too! Unfortunately, i am knocking a few starsdown. The service speed when we went was horrible. We arrive at we were seated at 5:30, and ordered by 5:45, and didn't have ourmeals until 6:45. At no point did any of the service or management team seem concerned about the wait. No one popped over to sayacknowledge the delay or anything. Hell we couldn't even get the water glasses refilled without actively flagging someone down.It's also worth noting that while the portion sizes in the schnitzel dishes are great, the goulash portion my wife ordered wassignificantly smaller. On a night when the restaurant has their house in order I bet it's a simply wonderful experience.However, that is simply not what we encountered. Read more
Wow, after hearing so many great things about the Black Forest from veteran Hamiltonians, I can definitely agree with everyone.... We usually make the trek to Kitchener for a proper German Schnitzel (Metro on Victoria) but I think we just found ourreplacement! Definitely look forward to returning! Read more
Great food! This was our 2nd time dining here and the food was again delucious. I had the Cabbage Roll Dinner with Spaetzle as... side. I don't usually have sides with my cabbage rolls, but I haven't had spatzle in a long time so I went for it. It pairedwell with the sause. Hubby had the meatball soup and loved it (said it tasted very similar to how my Mom prepaires it :),followed by the Szegedine Goulash which was very tasty as well. It does feel like a Bavarian inn, the food is fresh and thelovely team wears traditional clothing. German music plays in the background which adds to the charm. The Black Forest Inn has been consistently excellent for many many years it's such a treat to enjoy the atmosphere and great... food and their prices really didn't go up too much, unlike many restaurants because of covid-19 backlash and the cost of fueldriving produce and meats up in price. The Black Forest Inn hits all the top points with us. The food, the atmosphere, the staff and the overall experience is... absolutely worth a five star review. Food portions are on point and at a reasonable price, the food itself is absolutelydelicious and very authentic. The establishment is very clean and well managed. The staff are very courteous and responsiveand a delight to deal with and also look absolutely fabulous in authentic German dirndl. First time ever having rouladen. We were there for a party of 6 and two kids. What a great meal! The house dressing on the... salad was great and the goulash was delicious and really filling. Our waitress was super and the atmosphere is reallyrelaxed. Was surprised how, at their low/reasonable prices, the portions were big and delicious. Date night dinner at The Black Forest Inn. The first time for us and what a great experience. The atmosphere was fabulous. The... servers were dressed in traditional clothes and decorations and music all fit the theme. Staff was very welcoming and servicewas great. Food was awesome. Soup was hot not lukewarm. I really enjoyed the visit and it is definitely among my top 5 restaurants in Hamilton. The waitress Ally is very nice, helpful... and explain everything in details, the atmosphere is very comfortable and welcoming, traditional German decor, the food isdelicious, there are daily specials, and there is a great selection of desserts.
