Out of the handhold of smash burgers that have popped up as of recent in Portland, Monster smash is one of my personal... favorites. The meat to bun to topping ratios are on par. The sauce is to my liking and I love the pickle choice. The owners andstaff are always down for a quick catch up to the day chat and send you on your way. Great smashy. Read more

Well worth the trip from BG to SE PDX. Dual juicy patties smashed with crisped edges. Great burger sauce and melted cheese. The... brioche buns were a nice touch. And plenty of pickles. The OG Smash is top shelf. Read more

They don't have a lot on their menu but it's enough. Their monster smash burger, what they're known for, comes with two... "smashed" patties, cheese, monster sauce (something like a cheese sauce?), sweet pickle slices, and a relish, between twobuttered brioche buns. Is it good? Yeah. Is it amazing? Eh. As I ate them, their components were flavorful (the pickles, buns, and meat were particularly good by themselves), but eating them together...nothing really popped. Maybe the meat wasn't saltedenough? Not enough acid? There was just something missing. However, the smashed patty concept was cool. The smashed and friedends reminded me of hash (both in texture and flavor). That alone would be the reason to try this burger. And for $10, I canrecommend it as a non-fussy, good burger choice. The fries were good, too. Very crispy and nicely salted. Read more

I had heard about smash burgers, and Monster Smash was a terrific in-person introduction. The uneven, fractal-like edges crisp... up beautifully on the grill. A puffy, yet substantial bun provides a wonderful counterpoint, creating a mouthful of contrastingtextures with every bite. I ordered a side of their fries, which came with a container of mayo - so, if your visit includespopping into Belmont Station next door, you might want to consider a Belgian beer to go with them. If you should order thefries, be aware that one serving is enough for multiple people. I had a large serving with my burger, another large servingwith lunch the following day, and still had a third meal's worth. Pro tip - reheating their fries on a metal tray in a toasteroven works great. The cart in this location has a history of good food that goes well with the astonishing beer variety atBelmont Station. I'm thrilled to see Monster Smash keeping up the tradition. Read more

It's great when a food cart only focuses on a couple of things... it means it's usually their specialty and should be quick to... churn out. These burgers here were super tasty and juicy. The pickles and sauce made them even better. The fries are also amust get! You can get beverages at the Belmont Station, which is in the same structure, along with indoor/outdoor seating. Read more
