generally speaking, the taste and environment are decent, but how would you feel when you pay for $20 and there are only seven... pieces of chicken in the meal. Loved it taste is on point, they don't take reservations so first come serve basis. I had mutton soup & chicken 65 was really... good ???? , moreover got the chicken chettinad and parotha was super tasty must try. Lastly finished with some filters coffee &mango kulfi. It was my first time at Karaikudi Chettinad Indian Restaurant. I don’t eat Indian food often so I’m not an expert about... their food. However, I’m impressed with their Fish Biryani and Chicken 65. I’ve had Biryani, time to time, at other Indianrestaurants but I’ve never had fish biryani before. Their Fish Biryani came with a small fish curry gravy, raitha and an egg.I liked their curry gravy. My husband said he could tell right away it contained some fish sauce. I love fishy stuff! TheirChicken 65 was the best part of the meal. I saw many good reviews about their Chicken 65 and Chettinad Chicken Roast. I wasdebating what to choose in the beginning. I then asked our server what the most popular item at the restaurant was and she toldme that it was “Chicken 65”. Such a good choice! The chicken was filled with Indian spices. Spicy and flavourful! It camewith a hot sauce on the side. My husband really loved the hot sauce. It was spicy but so good at the same time. We also hadChicken Khotu Roti. It came with chicken curry gravy and raitha on the side. The curry gravy was ok but the fish curry gravythat came with biryani was better and the portion was a bit larger than the chicken curry gravy. The restaurant is spacious.It’s good for large groups. The authentic Chettinad food! This restaurant is far away from my place but I would say it was worth the travel. We tried... chicken and lamb biryani with chicken 65, veg Manchurian, and filter coffee. The filter coffee is a must-try ???? and I lovedthe way it was served in a traditional tea cup. The food was fresh and delicious except for lamb dishes. Full marks for the foodpresentation. The ambiance is good and the service is fast. Extra star ?? for the staff's attentiveness and politeness. Thestaff recommendations are good. Minus point for the lamb preparation, we ordered lamb biryani and lamb appetizer. I find thelamb pieces chewy.. may be stale/uncooked. Tried their chettinad chicken and veg korma and they were delicious. The malabar parathas were a little soggy. Madras coffee... looked authentic in steel glass and bowl. DELICIOUS!!!! For me it's very midly put in words to describe. I was in love with their food from first bite till the end. Each... and every item was very well carefully cooking and taste has been packed in like a gift to open. Mild and pleasant ambiance aswell ?? Normally the food is very good but I fear Karaikudi is changing a good thing. We normally love the butter chicken here. So much... so my wife and I feel it’s the best in the city. But today, after ordering the same dish we usually do, the butter chickensauce tasted fairly different. It is normally sweet with a very rich taste. Today though, it was salty, not as rich, anddifferent spices were used which altered the taste. Hopefully this review makes it back to the owner as their previous sauce wasthe best in town. The price was also raised by about 20%, which is fine and worth it if they are still providing the best butterchicken in town, but based on our experience today, scratching the head at why management/ownership wanted to ruin a greatthing.
