Food was fine, service was not great. Arrived around 7:15, got my drink and appetizer pretty quickly but took an hour to get my... main pasta dish. A couple came in about 30 minutes after me and was served drinks, appetizer, entree and dessert before I evergot my pasta. Won?t be coming back. Group of four went to John?s Cafe for dinner. Busy night in the restaurant. My entry of roasted chicken was tough, hard to cut... with my knife and tasteless. My wife?s meal was also bland and the pork on her plate was like shoe leather. Quite an expensiveevening with subpar food. Won?t go back. Only our 2nd time going but I've had Dennis' cooking a handful of times. No BS, I've liked everything he's made. This time I got... the Center Cut Pork Chop and I swear it was the best I've ever had. It came with homemade applesauce and veggies. My wife gotthe burger and thoroughly enjoyed it. We also got the homemade Ricotta + Garlic Bread for app and it was really good. I'm not ahuge dairy person anymore but this was light and had a very creamy flavor/texture. Lastly we decided to get dessert. I got theplate of cookies, since I'm playing Santa in a few days I had to practice, and my wife got the Chocolate Souffle cake withPistachio ice cream. The cookies are homemade and have an italian pastry flavor vs a gooey style. I loved them. The cake wasreally good, especially if you like dark chocolate. Oh, I guess I should mention the drinks. Outstanding food, great service and wonderful atmosphere ! We brought our favorite bottle of wine and had a great meal from... start to finish! The hanger steak had a great char and was cooked perfectly! The salad was fresh and well balanced with theGorgonzola and apple with lemon vinaigrette.
