This place is not authentic, so don't compare it to authentic Mexican food... With that said, the hand made tortillas are great,... salsas are flavorful (Habanero sauce needs to be 10X spicier), and the meats have good flavor too... We love Cafe Rio and have been coming here a handful of times every month since they opened but lately it hasn?t been the same.... We always get the barbacoa salad and their rice always seems to be undercooked and this last time they really skimped on themeat and lettuce. My husband enjoys it by his work at the Tustin location and says his salad is usually overflowing and greatamount of meat. Maybe with more open reviews like this, they?ll make changes to how it was when we fell in love with Cafe Rio! Read more
I ordered online. The site told me my food would be ready at 11:50. It wasn't ready until 12:15. I stood there for 25 minutes... waiting for my food. Meanwhile, people are walking in, ordering, and getting their food within 5 minutes. Food was so so. Myfirst and only visit to Cafe Rio. Read more
I've been to the one in Lakewood & my salad was amazing, huge and full of meat, it towered my dish, so big I couldn't finish... it...so I went to the one in Yorba Linda, look at the picture, first of all they were super slow, they are so un-organizedbehind the counter it really was sad to wait in this line for what I received, my Salad was half of what I received in Lakewoodand was very disappointed for what I paid for a chicken salad and nachos...go to Lakewood, so much better. The staff were rude and seemed irritated while we were placing our order but we'll just assume they were having a bad day. We... ordered Nachos and quesadilla! The tortilla was okay but the beef was absolutely delicious! Very juicy and savory. The nachochips were also okay but they barely added anything. They put very little meat, small amount of cheese, and a little of sourcream, nothing like the photos taken by the owner which made it look like they'd get loaded up, it was all just a small amountpiled onto the center. We had more plain chips than anything. We had beef and barbacoa, again the beef was very delicious butthe barbacoa was overly sweet it felt like eating candy. Overall the experience was just okay.
