We were hungry and passing by Abbotsford and wondering what to eat and saw Mr. India restaurant. The appearance from parking lot is not appealing, my wife sent me to go inside and have a look and decide to eat there or not, went inside and looked clean with 6 or 7 tables. We ordered Shahi paneer, Prawns curry, Rogan josh, Basmati rice and garlic Naan. Beside Basmati rice that tasted like other places, the rest were delicious and well above most places we've tried Indian food. Three stews had very generous amount of tasty sauce. All dishes were hot and stayed hot despite the fact we waited 7-8 min before eating (we ordered Masala chai and wanted to have it before the food). Shrimp was fresh, juicy and well beyond my expectation. I would give it 5 star just for shrimp alone, too many places fail miserably when they make a dish with it. At first we didn't ordered Naan (we try not to eat more than what we should) but after having those plates on our table decided to go for it. My suggestion, do yourself a favor and order Garlic Naan no mater what, it's awesome, thin, fresh and comes in hot then dip it in any stew you order. We will definitely go back again, it looks like a family run business that they try hard to do their best. Since my original post, we have visited twice more and tried couple of other things. Instead of tea we got Mango Lassi with recommendation of our server, I'm glad we listened to her. Beside being delicious it also helps if your food is a bit spicier than what you usually have. Prawns goan Curry and Mango chicken were awesome. In our latest visit we tried both garlic bread and sweet Mango coconut Naan. It was delicious but between the two, garlic Naan still is hands down a winner (we ordered a second garlic Naan, you really can't think about dieting while there). Staff are very polite and friendly, we have tried few fancy Indian restaurants before, to us taste wise Mr. India is above them all.
Its second time in a row that food was old ,no taste, too many sauces, paneer looks like ,its been made from so many days. We order noodles, manchoorian, paneer tikka, chilli paneer ,shahi paneer , nothing taste good. Naan was also precooked. Never gonna order again. Just waste of money.
they have redone the dining area and it feels very clean and fresh. the food has always been delicious--we've been going there for many years. today the server was polite and helpful even though they had a lot of take-out orders.
The food is very delicious and pocket friendly. If you wanna try authentic Indian food that tastes like home, must try this restaurant once. Their menu is full of varieties & food is filled with mouth-watering tastes.
Update May 7, 2022 - we went there again - got the Prawn Korma, Dal, and aloo parathas - all delicious ?. And also bought 20 samosas takeout - freshly fried and delicious as well. --- Original review: Mughlai chicken was excellent, as was the amritsari kulcha... very rich and delicious flavours - reminiscent of the real deal in India (and yes I have been to india). Prices also very reasonable.
Best Tandoori chicken I have had. Crusted in spices, baked to perfection, with so many flavors involved. It's just perfection. Thank you and I'll be back
We order the food for the housewarming, and everyone loves the food. The owner is helpful and polite.
Absolutely love their food, everything on the menu is delicious. Makki roti and Sarson ka saag are sooooooooooooo good. Paneer pakoras and Shrimp pakoras are really good too. Kadhi chawal are authentic Indian taste. I come here every single time I am in Abbotsford!
