New management = steep drop in quality and service. I'm not usually one to complain, however.... For 20 years this was the only... place where we would order chinese delivery and we would always be very happy with it and the service and quick delivery. Whenever we tried someplace else we were disappointed compared to New Szechaun Express. You can see my review from 6 yearsago. BUT, they are now under new management. We've ordered twice in the past month or so and both times not only has the orderbeen incorrect, the food quality was dramatically worse. The shrimp was meally like it had been frozen, thawed, then refrozen(maybe more than once) and then cooked. That was true for both meals containing shrimp. The crabmeat was fake cheap simulatedcrab. The beef was full of gristle, the veggies were limp, the egg drop soup had zero flavor and the noodles were prepackagedstale rubbery chow mein noodles. When I called to say they had not delivered the egg rolls we had ordered and paid for, the ladyproceeded to argue that we had not been charged for them. I added up the order amount, added sales tax and it came out toexactly what we had paid including the undelivered egg rolls. I told the lady on the phone but she still continued to argue thepoint. The previous owners would have had the egg rolls to our door in 10 minutes, but that rarely happened anyway because ourorders were nearly always correct... maybe 2 screw-ups over 20 years. Further, they stopped taking Amex and no more coupons. Wethought the bad quality of the first order under new management was a fluke, but this second order, plus the push-back about theincomplete order, has convinced us that it's time to find a new chinese takeout restaurant. as an Asian who knows what is real asian food, the Chinese food here doesn't attract me as much as their Japanese food!... Seriously the best Japanese (delivery) food you can find in DMV area. They are sooooo fresh and of extremely reasonable price(about 80% of the price from other restaurants but much fresher and professionally processed). The pictures are: bluefin tuna(etc) sashimi (Maguro, so melty!), sushi rolls and balls with fish liver, and goose liver with edible gold leaf. Read more
I’ve ordered from here before and enjoyed all the food and had no problems. The food I ordered tonight wasn’t very good. I... got cold noodles with sesame and they tasted nothing like that dish that I’ve ever had before- even from the same restaurant,tasted almost like noodles with ranch dressing on them. This place is under new management and the food is disgusting! My husband generally gets the curry chicken and I always get... General Tso chicken. We ordered the same thing today and immediately knew something was wrong. It tasted way different than whatwe always ordered. Even when the new owner took our order we asked where the lady was who always answered the phone. Herresponse? “She’s not here.” Not “I’m the new owner.” Needless to say, we threw away the food along with the $30 wepaid for it on that sorry excuse for a meal. Never again. You’ve been warned.
