While visiting family in the area we decided to have dinner at the Riverview Restaurant & Tavern in Algonquin. We're glad we... did! Carol, our server, was very attentive and made sure we had a good time. We ordered soup, salad, pizza and dessert. Thesoup was Cream of Chicken and Rice soup. The soup was so delicious! The soup was very creamy and had good portion of chicken init. It's been such a long time since we've had this type of soup. Brought back memories to when we were kids. The salad wasfreshly made and was ordered with homemade garlic dressing. Yum! Yum! We ordered the Barbecue Pizza and a thin crust withsausage, green olives and hot giardiniera. Both pizzas were very tasty and served piping hot right out of the oven. We decidednot to overdo dinner because we wanted dessert. Boy...Oh boy! We chose the carrot cake, which was outstanding! The carrot cakehad such a fresh taste to it. The cream cheese frosting was not overly sweet and complimented the carrot cake very well. We'llbe able to enjoy another meal of this great food as there was plenty of leftovers to take home. I know I'll be visiting theRiverview Restaurant & Tavern again next time I'm in the area. We go there for the pizza. Food is always good. We are going to quit doing dine in. Service is slow and not attentive. Felt like... dining area of restaurant could have been cleaner. Read more
Our waitress Carol was amazing! Food was delicious...fish had a good crispy batter & large portion of fish, the river monster... sandwich with sweet peppers and aus jus will leave your mouth watery for more. Definitely recommend! Read more
