Great tacos and amazing cocktails. Their selection of rare mezcals and tequilas is off the hook. We were in town dropping our... daughter off at camp and were in the mood for Mexican. After surveying the options we chose Mexcalito as it sounded authentic. We love Mexican food and beverages, and know tequila and mezcal drinks pretty well from travel and frequenting some of thebetter Mexican restaurants in New York and Boston. All I can say is that this place is completely legit and up there in termsof the quality of the food and drinks. Antonio the owner is from Guadalajara Jalisco the birthplace of tequila. Antonio madeus several cocktails off the menu including a mezcal hibiscus concoction that was sublime. The tacos were varied and uniquewith soft corn homemade tortillas. My new favorite place in Amherst!! The food here is excellent. It is the mildest Mexican food I've ever had, so if you like... super hot and spicy... maybe ask for extra hot sauce or something. The spicy shrimp, for example, is what I'd consider mild tomedium spicy from a Thai restaurant. I've tried several menu items: tacos, apps, meals, desserts, etc. and I've been happy witheverything. One tip: if you're getting one of the crispy fried tortilla dishes, it's best to eat it in the restaurant or rightaway. They don't stay crispy as long for take out and you'll be disappointed if it's your first time trying one of those dishes.When fresh and crispy they're amazing! Also, the service is great. They're sometimes busy and not super quick, but they'realways very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this place!! Read more
