My first time here. You have to seat yourself by the "honor system". I ordered chicken strips and fries, my friend had ch chip... pancakes. Food was ok, chicken strips not the best. Our server (I can't remember his name) was absolutely fantastic!!! Veryfriendly and on the ball. Shout out to the college kid from Winona!! I'll be back but maybe for breakfast. Read more
It?s difficult to recommend Pappy?s. In a recent and likely last visit to the cafe (which by the way has a pleasant staff) the... food was less than appetizing. In the mood for comfort food, mashed potatoes were ordered as a side, along with a combo platter.The mashed potatoes were clearly scraped from the bottom of a pot that had been sitting over some heat. They were so dry andburnt, that they actually crumbled when poked with a fork. Clearly Gramma wasn?t in the kitchen. Mashed potatoes are one of theeasiest things to get right, but it was clear that instead of making a fresh batch, ?old, dry, and crusty will just have to do.?If your blue plate special is a signature, then it should be consistently amazing. The burgers are mediocre, and apparently anomelet was served to another patron with a ball of hair under it, which we heard about on a previous visit. Nice little cafe atmosphere and amazing food! Waiting for a table is a little weird, you walk in and just wait without putting... your name, a server will come over and say "who's next" and seat the party. I had a Western Skillet and I will definitely begoing back to get it again! Read more
Pretty good food (for breakfast). Servings are just the right size and it's very affordable. The waitstaff were very friendly... and professional. When they cook scrambled eggs though they tend to cook them just a tiny bit longer than other restaurantsgenerally do. Read more
