It is a tiny place, but cozy! Sashimi is amazingly fresh, I love all the sashimi pieces. The steak is nice and juicy - def very... flavorful and it goes really well with rice. The soya sauce and wasabi are not very good. I don't recommend the tempura ( twomuch breaded) and the noodles dishes ( not enough flavor.) Read more

I ordered a special sushi roll ($17, 10 pieces) and a chicken yakisoba ($19). I had great expectations on the sushi, but I have... to say it was just a regular one, nothing special at all and VERY cold. The yakisoba was more tasteful, but nothing special aswell. For the price, I was expecting way more quality of the food. The ambience is ok, very small place but cozy, and staff aregood. Read more

We are experienced sushi eaters, so while passing through town and wanting sushi, we chose Bonsai Grill based on the reviews.... SUSHI. WAS. GREAT. We had the sushi sampler, and loved it. As it should be, the fish slices dwarfed the rice wedge. (Sushi chefhere knows his/her craft!) The fish was amazing. salmon, yellow tail, tuna, eel?all were excellent. Not wanting to leave (eventhough we were satisfied), we ordered the shrimp and vegetable tempura. I would have rated this restaurant 5 stars for thesushi, but the tempura was absolutely confounding. The shrimp were not tempura battered at all. They were breaded, not tempurabattered. (I regret that the picture doesn?t show the shrimp.) The vegetables appeared to be fresh and battered with a tempurabatter, but?well, see the photo ? each piece was very dense and tasteless, definitely not the light, crispy tempura anyone wouldexpect. We sent the whole tempura plate back, telling the otherwise friendly and efficient server that we LOVED the sushi, butwere befuddled by the plate of purported ?tempura?. Thinking it was obvious that we didn?t intend to pay for the full plate oftempura we sent back, we were surprised to see it still on the bill. It was eventually resolved (tempura taken off the bill),but damn?the sushi was great. Read more

An unfussy neighborhood sushi and ramen restaurant, with great food at great prices. The place is rather small and slightly... cramped, with indoor and outdoor seating as well as a sushi bar. Service is great, and even when busy they look afteryou. While the sushi is good, the ramen is exceptional. The spicy pork belly ramen is an absolute treat, and is an entire mealby itself. Read more

Uneasy about when we eat out because I?m a chef myself, we were in town and decided we wanted Japanese food for dinner. We... walked into this quaint little restaurant and we were immediately greeted and a very polite young waiter attended us. I had theJapanese noodles with shrimp and my husband had the Japanese noodles with chicken. Both were superb! Fresh finely cut vegetablesand the noodles cooked perfectly! Very good quality ingredients all around! We will definitely be coming back. Read more
