Excellent experience from start to finish! Lovely, accommodating, friendly hostess (we bonded over her bracelet)! Comfortable... seating outside, on a beautiful day. Congenial, efficient service (Valerie). Delicious brunch! What's not to love about warmcornbread with honey butter, hot apple donuts with jam, a huge stack of apple pie pancakes with fresh whipped cream, a generousportion of smoky brisket hash and eggs, meaty bacon, tender beef sausage, fluffy eggs, light biscuits, savory home fries, freshorange juice, dark chocolate milk and smooth coffee? Excellent food. Apple donuts are homemade, fresh and tasty. Grits and pulled pork bowl was a new combination for me but was... excellent. Location is bright and airy with a farmhouse feel. Great brunch for NoVA residents without having to fight traffic tocross the Potomac. Read more
Sometimes restaurants just do everything right and Ruthies fits into that category. Nice meat? Yes very flavorful. Outstanding... sides? Yes and the mac and cheese really hits on all cylinders. The Brussels also are addicting. All this comes at a reasonableprice by Washington standards. Parking and just getting a seat at the restaurant can sometimes be a challenge but it is worthit. Ruthie's All Day is an amazing neoclassical diner. The service was amazing, from our hostess, which checked on us several times... while we waited on a table(only a 20 minute wait on a Super Busy Sunday, another local restaurant had a 2 hour wait bycomparison) to Joe our server who was helpful, friendly, quick we had a great experience. Food was top quality. Even the tablesetting was polished and upscale, and with all those things the price was even better. Great value for your money. Ruthie’s All-Day I was hungry after work and decided to give Ruthie’s All-Day a try. I’m glad I did. I started off with... a Diet Coke. It came with paper straw. Good looking out for the environment. As an appetizer I ordered the Skillet Cornbread. It came to the table in the cutest rectangle with handles cast iron skillet. The cornbread had a big dollop of honey butter ontop in the center. The cornbread and butter were the paired perfectly and definitely appealed to my sweet tooth. For my entreeI ordered the Wood Grilled Salmon. It came with two sides. I chose the Nora Mill Granary Grits and Ruthie’s Mac and Cheese. I love grits and I just had to give the mac and cheese a taste. The salmon was perfectly charred on the outside from the custombuilt wood burning hearth and juicy/flaky on the inside. The grits were creamy and the mac and cheese was good. I ate all mysalmon, however I had to take the sides home because I was stuffed. I was sad that they did not have chocolate cake, because Idefinitely would have ordered a slice to go. I have to come to the realization that everyone does not have chocolatecake. Ruthie’s has outdoor seating as well as a full-bar with seating. I definitely would have requested to sit outside, butit was raining. Not many people were at the restaurant, however everyone that was there including the workers seemed to behappy which is a good sign. I’m assuming the low head count was because of the dreary weather and late hour of theevening. I would definitely go back to try other items on their menu. Since I love grits I will definitely make a future visitduring breakfast. Read more
