Stopped in here on a Sunday mid-day for brunch. This is located above the Garden and has great views of West Lake. We were able... to get seated right away. Our server was very professional. My wife had the egg plate and I had the omelette. It took some timefor the food to come out and it was good. It felt like things were over priced for what was essentially nothing more than adiner breakfast. Read more

My wife and I went to High Point just last night. We had not been there in 12 months. I had a ribeye. It was a disaster. Chewy... as a rubber band. I always thought a person could depend on the tenderness of a ribeye, especially prepared by a professionalchef. The waitress, Danielle, was very kind and attentive. She took my ribeye back to the chef and he attempted to rectify bycooking it from rare to medium rare. It didn't work. So Danielle asked me if she could substitute a fillet instead of theribeye. I said of course! She brought back a filet which was no more tender than the ribeye. What is going on I asked myself? Isuppose they just had less than top quality meat. That's all I have to say, I won't be back to High Point Restaurant. Read more

Chicken was dry, service was mediocre and the building smelled like urine. My waiter was rude, left us mid-meal and my friend... had to eat his cheeseburger without cheese. Also the bathrooms are nothing to be proud about. Read more

Unfortunately the Hi-Point was the low point of our Okoboji dining experiences. This location a beautiful view of the Lake but... traditionally high turnover of restaurants over the years. One would expect better now that the building owner owns therestaurant. But selling boats is different than owning a restaurant. It is apparent that without the restaurant owner present, the food suffered the night we dined. When the salad and wine are the meal's highlight, you know you are in trouble. I orderedChicken piccata, traditionally chicken dredged in seasoned flour, sauteed in butter and then smothered in a tangy lemon saucecontaining salty capers. Shouldn't be hard to mess up. What I received was a chunk of chicken breast deep fat fried plopped on apile of rice containing partially cooked kernels and then doused with what appeared to be chicken broth containing some lemonjuice and a few capers. It was apparent that there was no love bestowed by the kitchen on this dish. My companions shrimp scampididn't receive any love either featuring the same partially cooked rice and "greasy, garlicky oil" splashed on. The Hi-Pointchanged menus from last 2018 featuring more moderate priced entrees. Unfortunately the quality has suffered along with lowerprices. Perhaps the lowest point was finding that some of the prices on the menu didn't match the prices on the bill; credit tothe server for quickly correcting when brought to attention. While the lower prices are a positive step, there are better and asaffordable dining options available in the Lake's area. Read more
