We enjoyed our visit on Dec 7 immensely. Our waiter Jonathan was fabulous and gave excellent service. We enjoyed puréed pumpkin... squash soup, a chicken chowder and grilled chicken club with fries. We sat in the bar area by the window to have an opportunityto see trains go by on the main street. The restaurant has an old English pub feel with solid furniture and high ceilings. Myhusband said the soup was so good he was transported to a time enjoying soup his grandmother made. He said “this soup isgrandma quality soup”. I suppose it depends on your grandma if that is a compliment or not lol. You can see the whole of MainStreet and if you are lucky you will see a dressed up cyclist dancing to music on his bike- a well known local character! Read more

We were able to enjoy a lovely dinner at Iron Horse this past Saturday evening with dear friends! The food was very good, I... personally enjoyed the chicken pulled BBQ and I would definitely order that again! We shared a slice of raspberry cheesecakeand that was excellent! Comfortable atmosphere! It was a little busy and server was definitely kept on her toes. But she waslovely and helpful. Loved watching the trains pass as we ate! Look forward to going back again soon!! Read more

Went on a Thursday evening- (every place is short staffed right now), have patience for your food to arrive and enjoy the... company and friendly staff while you watch one of the busiest rail line. Reservation is recommended bc it can get busy on theweekends with the live band. There is a bar section and family dining. I had the Chile Pecan Chicken cooked so nice and juicyand my date had the special. They have Craft beer, Wine, Spirits, Lunch and dinner. Dine inside or outside. Truly greatatmosphere. Read more

Iron Horse has been around as long as I could remember. It is a landmark in downtown Ashland. On a nice day, you can sit... outside watching the trains go by. Food is very delicious, menu is seasonal. Watermelon Tomato Gazpacho was the special soupof the day. I was so happy that I have tried it; it was the best soup that I have every ordered it in a restaurant. It had somuch flavor, Watermelon and Tomato balanced each other perfectly. I loved the soup so much, I ordered a bowl to take home.Shrimp Tempura was OK, nothing special. I have ordered Wally’s Meatloaf. It had very good flavor and they have used goodquality meat for this dish. My son ordered the Chile Pecan Chicken, it was so tender. The waiter failed to inform us that theChile Pecan Chicken was prepared from scratch and it will take longer than usual. I was wondering why it took a long time forour main entrees to arrive. I read about the cooking time from another review. The waiter was really friendly and helpful. Hecame and checked on us frequently. We all made alterations to our dishes, the waiter/restaurant accommodated the changeswithout any additional charges. I was impressed by their kind effort. I also ordered the Watermelon Mint Cooler, it wasrefreshing, nice and strong. Unfortunately they didn’t offer a lunch menu, so the lunch was more expensive than usual. But itwas worth of being back there. The menu offers a good variety and prices are reasonable for dinner. Read more

One of the worst experiences I've ever had when it comes to restaurants. I called ahead for 17 people and I was told "We can't... hold all 17 but what we can do is good 12 of you and the other 5 can make there own reservation" I said "that's fine I'll takeit" 7:45 rolls by and 7 of us show up early and get seated. 8:10 rolls by and we're waiting for the rest of our party and itturns out an employee has told a part of our party that they can't come in and they have to wait an extra 30 to be seated. Wetold the party to come in and the manager or higher up steps in puts his hands on one of my friends and says "we can't have allof you here we are understaffed" The rest of the party upset and shocked of the managers action they leave before anything elsehappens. My party of 17 is now only 7 because of the actions of the manager. The only reason we had stay was because we'vealready ordered our drinks. After that we made the mistake of ordering our food there. We not only waited an hour and half for afood but the food wasn't even good. Adequate at best. Not worth the wait at all. The only positive things about this night wasthe waiter, live music and, the owner coming to us and apologizing for everything that had happened this night. He gave us hiscontact to give to the rest of my party to apologize and to make things right. A terrible experience that ruined the rest of ournight. Read more
