I stumbled upon this place while in Athens for work. I got the BBQ chicken plate. It was very good! Chicken was very smoky... flavored which I didn?t mind, bread was toasted just right, and the Mac and cheese was really nice! Overall I enjoyed it andwill be back! Read more
I'll start with the food. I ordered the portobello burger and it was probably one of the most flavorless vegetarian burgers I... ever had. Literally all I could taste was bread, cheese, and mushroom. They did absolutely nothing to season or add flavor tothe portobello mushroom. When you pay $8-9 for a burger with no side it better taste amazing. I didn't appreciate the ambienceeither for example the mock photo of The Last Supper above the kitchen. Just the vibe and the food for us was a big miss. Thereare better places to eat in Athens. Authentically Athens: casual, quirky, eclectic, eco-friendly, vegetarian options. I happened to love the mac n? cheese, unlike... other reviewers. I liked how real and authentic it tasted with melted cheddar on top. I had the BBQ plate with pork, macn?cheese, homemade slaw, and fresh bread. Plus I tried their lightly sweetened tea and a side of vinegar-based BBQ sauce. My sontried the ?Barbarella? sandwich on a ciabatta bun, which he enjoyed as well. It was a nice day, so we sat outside at one of thepicnic tables. The inside looked nice though. It?s nicer than most casual BBQ places inside. The staff was sweet andaccommodating. I have fairly high standards for BBQ, and the pulled pork here is a masterpiece. It is moist with ample smoke flavor, and mine... was well seasoned. Whoever does the smoking should be quite proud. I really enjoyed the vinegary sauce, and it complements thepork perfectly if applied somewhat sparingly, in my opinion. Blows away any other BBQ I've had in this region.
