I?m mad at myself for just trying Conan?s for the first time. First of all the place looks awesome. The booths have so much... character and it?s fun to just hang out. Next is the people working there are super friendly and fun. We got the cheese garlicbread as an appetizer and I could of ate five more plates of it. The bread was soft and had lots of flavor. Today I found out this 47 year old Austin institution which is family owned just recently passed to the sons and daughter of the... owner. We have lived in Austin 17 years and it hasn?t changed. It is covered with Conan the Barbarian photos and other comicdecor. The food is really good. First the cheese bread is not what you would expect or the cheese sticks. This local pizza chain was an amazing experience. First it's hard to find good Chicago style deep dish in Texas. Most places... just make the crush extra thick and call it deep dish, as you can see by the photos this is not the case. When we arrived wewere helped at the counter by Moon. I think they recognized the look in our eyes and our inexperience at Conans and gently ledus to some great pizza choices. Even sharing a few menu "hacks" along the way. The wheat crust pizza was also recommended asbeing "what they are known for" so of course we had to try it. We are so glad we did and will definitely be back. The decor haspaintings from or inspired by Frank Frazetta and they added some awesome '80s flare to the decor. We ordered some pizza rollswith some oregano on top and you can see from the photo they were stuffed with some insanely stringy tasty mozzarella. Thepizza though was the star of the show. We ordered a Savage (basically a supreme) and it was piled high with toppings with thesauce on top (as Moon suggested). All in all one of the best pizza's I've ever had. Read more
