One of the best Cajun places in Austin. We had 2 appetizers, one of which was frog legs and they blew us away.

So I've been here a couple of times and it is really great. The only reason I give the food 4 stars is that everybody I mention... it to seems to think the food is super fantastic. So it's like a movie that everybody hypes and then you watch it and it's notquite life changing like you thought it would be. That is how I feel about their food. It's really good, just not life changinggood. Service is on point. Highly recommend. Read more

From the outside it?s easy to overlook in a nondescript shopping center but once you go inside you are transported to a... Louisiana hangout. The food is nicely prepared and the staff is super friendly. PoBoy is big with tender shrimp. Gumbo andÉtouffée are nicely seasoned and not pasty like I?ve had at other restaurants. I?m very excited to come back and try more ofthe menu! Read more

TLDR: a solid place to scratch the cajun itch in Austin Came here for lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant was absolutely... popping, and wait time for an inside table was ~45 minutes. we were able to be seated immediately outside, and there was a nicebreeze that day, so we went with that. We started with the fried pickles, as well as a cup of gumbo for myself. The friedpickles were pretty solid. nothing super remarkable, but who doesn't love fried pickles. The gumbo was really solid, a bitwatery, but still some of the best I've had in Austin. For my main I had a shrimp poboy. The base components were good, but theshrimp was overly fishy and didn't really come out well. overall, it was alright, but certainly nothing worth writing homeabout. Overall, really solid little place. 3.5/5 Read more

We always enjoy our meal when we come to Evangeline's, the fried pickles were one of our favorites in our most recent visit,... chip style and very thin and crispy they were awesome. The cocktail sauce here is one of my favorite things, I get it every timeI visit. Definitely recommend for the food, the friendly and attentive staff, and music on the weekends. Read more
