July 27, 2022 my fiance and I decided to have dinner at the American in Bainbridge, Georgia. We were greeted and seated in a... timely and friendly manner. The establishment was busy but not packed. Our server visited our table and took our order. Myfiance ordered the Hawaian Pineapple Ribeye, side salad and a side I can not recall. I had the Chipotle Ribeye with a sidesalad and the smoked gouda grits. When the salad arrived they were fresh and nicely cut. The steaks came to our table cookedmedium rare as requested and the accompanying sides complemented them very well. Our server did a wonderful job checking on usregularly to see if we needed anything. For dessert we shared the Fig Cheesecake which was very good despite the fact figs arenot one of my favorite fruits I really enjoyed it. We both had a very nice dinner with great service. In total we had 2 entrees,2 teas, 1 beer and a dessert and the bill set us back just under $100 dollars not including tip. It is my opinion that the costwas reasonable for the quality of food and service we recieved. In conclusion if you find yourself in Bainbridge, Georgia andwant to experience above average dinning with super service it is my recommendation that you give The American a try you'll beglad you did! Food is quite good, the chipotle steak is incredible. We started with the tomato pie which if you love cheese or pizza will be a... must try. We were able to try the peach cheesecake, the key lime pie, and the banana cream pie; each of these desserts areamazing and I would consider them as must-haves if you still have room for them. The staff is warm, inviting, and attentive. Therestaurant is clean and well maintained, and is decorated appropriately and helps create an ambience and vibe that is TheAmerican. I would recommend this to anyone in the North Florida/South Georgia area looking for a great culinary experience. Read more
AMAZING experience!! From the moment we walked in the door we were treated SO kindly. Servers were amazing. Food was five stars... from appetizer to dessert, atmosphere was just WONDERFUL! We had never been to downtown Bainbridge before, but now we know! Menuwas just out of this world, presentation was spot-on. One of THE BEST restaurants I have ever visited in my 45 years of life! This isn't really a testimonial but I could fine no email address to use. My apologies. We are new to the area and while... exploring Bainbridge, discovered the American. We have visited twice and both times the service and food was excellent. We don'teat out often but the American will be our first choice for now on. The reason for this message is that I noticed the US flaghanging in the restaurant. Being retired Army I notice things like that and although patriotism is commendable, your flag isimproperly draped. When hanging the US flag in that manner, the stars should be on the left as viewed. I look forward to my nextdining experience at the American. You have a 5 star establishment! Read more
