Well I have lived local all my life. And I have been to all the basque restaurants in town. I celebrated my birthday and I was... totally shocked at how they brought out the food. We had a party of 10 and everyone was given their own bowl of soup and toldthat there was no refills. The portions were small and the prices were higher. I could see if there was only a couple of peoplebut for 10 people I went there because of the family style atmosphere. I will not be back for this reason. Read more
Food is good, but quite honestly the traditional aspect is lacking now. They limit the food for a set up. The food is now served... individually unlike in the past where it was family style. We were served one bowl of beans for 6 people, and two small platesof pasta for 6 people, soup and salad is one bowl per person and 2 baskets of bread for 6 people as well. For $23 thetraditional basque style is not there and the amount of food is sad. Service was slow and waitress was not very friendly. This place is perfect for large groups and its part of the Legacy of Classic Bakersfield CA. This is a Basque restaurant/ bar. ... What does that mean? Not sure other than one food order would feed 3 people. I got the steak , Basque style and there was noway I could finish it myself. (Yhe beef tongue was delicious) And I'm a big Boy!
