Was just in town visiting friends, and I had some really great seafood and drinks to accompany. Ordered their old fashioned and... had to order a second. Very well done. Seafood in their risotto was also excellent. Definitely recommend. Not just a hotel chainrestaurant. Read more

Great bartenders and wait staff. The waterfront is the perfect backdrop for a date nite or a girls night out! The Korean lettuce... wraps are my fav, as well as the truffle fries. I'm not a seafood person, but they have an array of seafood to choose from. Read more

Ambiance is great, service is interesting, but food was disappointing. For Mother’s Day weekend we decided to try this place... after seeing it across the street from when we tried The Lakehouse. Should have just gone to the Lakehouse again because it wasA LOT better. Also, parking was difficult as Whalers only has about 15 spaces for the restaurant, and all were taken by the timewe got there ~6pm. We had to pay the $1 per hour parking fee in the lot. We started with the usual appetizer - fried calamari. Most notable is that I think they were from frozen because they all were the same size rings. It was served with like a mayoThai sweet chili sauce which was interesting. We also got the crab cake which felt like had more filler than crab. For mains, Idecided to get the chicken to compare apples to apples with what I got at The Lakehouse. I was overwhelmingly disappointed withthe quality of the chicken. The white meat was over cooked and tough (it also came with bones in). The mashed potato was a biton the chunky side rather than creamy side. We also got the ribeye which needed a sharper knife to cut because it was so tough, and the coconut crusted cod which should not have been an option on the menu because it was that bad. The “crust” was noteven crunchy but very soggy. The salad on top of white rice was really odd for an “Asian” inspired dish because rice underraw veg would never be served in an actual Asian restaurant. The rice was too hard as well. The food did not come very hot, more like lukewarm. A critique that my dad pointed out after was that the servers served the men at the table their food firstrather than the women… which was not what usually happens at restaurants. The server also asked if we wanted the soup afterthe mains???? Overall, just go to The Lakehouse across the parking lot. Read more

Have to say.. disappointed tonight. have been here so many times and this is where I wanted to go for my early mothers days... dinner. Had a 7:15 reservation. Wasn't seated until 7:40 after being told when we arrived that we would seated in 5-10 minutes. Not horrible, but then sat our table, once seated, for another 10 minutes before anyone came over. Fortunately the food, asalways, saved the night. Our waiter was busy taking care of other tables. Had to ask someone for water as all of our glasseswere empty..He gave us dessert menus and disappeared. After 15 minutes had to ask another server to find our waiter. At thispoint just asked for the check which had to be adjusted due to an error. I have always recommended Whalers to many people.Usually a wonderful experience. Not sure what the issue was tonight. The chicken, short ribs, mussels and Brussel sprouts wereall outstanding. Read more
