Friendly, nice, no funny business staff.. the way it should be everywhere! Came down the mountain from a long hike and saw a... glorious sign reading ?street tacos? beer 2.95? at the parking lot. Made my way up, grabbed my beer, and enjoyed some greattacos at 8,000+ feet. Staff was courteous and the store well stocked. Give them a visit Read more

Location location location. We usually tent camp in the Sierras, so having an efficiency cabin up so high, near the creek, with... food we could order, and a super helpful staff was a TREAT. Not fancy, and they don't pretend to be, but definitely a niceplace. Unplug and unwind at 8800 feet. Then go hike a mountain and jump in a lake! Return in time for a plate of pulled porkCowboy Tacos! My favorite place on earth! Sean's burgers were an out of body experience when we got off the trail!! Michelle's garlic... pretzels were a real treat in the backcountry. The cabins are everything you can hope for in a rugged mountain canyon 10 milesfrom the nearest town. Thanks for another great stay! See you next year - Jeff Read more

Glacier Lodge is a four-star resort when it comes to places to stay that are reasonably far away from the beaten path and with... no frills. Note that there is no lodge, but there are cabins, places to camp, a fishing pond, nice views, and a strong intentionto rebuild the lodge (and owners that are ready and capable to do so). Update: new frill: StarLink internet over WiFi (presently$15/day/device). The cabins are small, but they have electricity and running water, full kitchens, and bathrooms. It's the typeof place you would expect to see an old man plucking a banjo on the front porch. The floor may not be perfectly level, but whatmore would you expect from some nearly ancient structures at 8,000 ft? There's a barbecue every Saturday night. It's about $15a plate, and usually features a decent piece of meat, like tri-tip. You can also order fresh trout caught in the pond. Thisyear you can fish the pond on location and pay for your trout by the inch. We saw some trout is much as 15 in. My children couldcatch a hungry trout within 60 seconds of casting into the water. It's a bit similar to shooting fish in a barrel, but it wasnice for my younger's to predictably catch their first fish. We paid about $10 per fish on average. You may be lucky enough topay more, or less. The campground is stacked up in steps on a hill. Most people in the area prefer to camp 20 yards away at BigPine Creek campground where there are more trees, deer, and direct access to the creek. Still, in a pinch, it's convenient tohave a place to park your RV with some hookups, at Glacier Lodge. There is also a store, where you can get some of the basicnecessities, ice, beer, wine, a toothbrush, a postcard, or the like. You can also order a meal from their full menu of burgers, barbecue food, and typical breakfast items. Most of all, I enjoy the staff. Personalities are cheery, humorous, and warm. Inthe past I may have given this location 3 stars, but with the addition of a new children Read more

My partner and I stayed here the first week of May for one night. Lovely cabin and super friendly service. Their restaurant/food... is not open yet since it?s still off-season, but everyone in the cabin journal was raving about it. Definitely will come back tothe area with some friends and spend more time here. Thank you for the wonderful stay! Read more
