Best chicken sandwich in Bloomington-Normal! Fried chicken breast or pulled chicken beautifully paired with coleslaw, Pop-Up... Sauce, onions and pickles on a giant bun. Chicken was tender and juicy! The dill fries were delicious! The fried pickles yummy!The mashed potatoes and gravy were down hone good! The gouda mac and cheese creamy, decadent deliciousness! Everything wasfantastic! Wow!! What an awesome chicken sandwich. I got the Sardo (?) with a spice level of ?country?. The bottom had a mayo based cole... slaw and the top was pickle and maybe mayo. Why have I not reviewed Pop up chicken? Who knows why I waited so long, but I will say they make the best chicken sandwich I... have ever had. This place checks all the boxes for me anyway. Not flashy on the atmosphere (located in a local VFW kitchen),off the beaten path, but focused on great products. The menu is not huge, which makes it easy to know what you are gonna get. Or so you would think the small menu would make it easier to order, well you are wrong. The small menu focused on hot chickentells me they know what they do and they do it excellent each time. If u want something else, well they aren't for you. Theydo chicken and stick to that fomula. Everything I have had here is fantastic. The product is based around a crispy, juicy,white meat hot chicken sandwich. That is the core of this place. The sandwich comes mild, med, or hot. Topped with slaw,pickles all on a Kaiser roll. This is a whopper of a sandwich what I call a double fist sandwich. Grab this monster with bothhands and get in there. That being said you will get messy when you sink your teeth into this bad boy. The side I usuallycan't pass on is the street corn. Cheesy, buttery, and with spices/lime that give it a tangy finish. Do what I do, snag a gripof napkins cuz u will certainly need them. And if there is extra sauce in the paper boat it is served in....dip that sandwich inthere. That is a pro tip so you don't waste the deliciousness ????. I can't say enough about this place. First time here and it definitely won't be my last! Wanted to try a variety of items without spending a ton, so I opted for the... Horseshoe. The menu described the chicken potion as "2 breaded tenders" but honestly it was more like "a large chicken breastcut in half lengthwise then breaded"...in other words, no skimping on portions! $25 Total after tax (2 dishes). No tip due to no service. First time eating here. You enter, look at a menu while the cashier... stares at you. The menu has no photos, just words and prices. (I would advise the owner to add photos to expedite theselection process). You tell the cashier what you want. She puts in the order and the receipt is printed immediately afterpayment. A tip is already recommended at this point before they have even done anything for you. Anytime this style is usedfor tips, my answer for tip is always zero. You seat yourself. Food is delivered to your table (rather quickly in myexperience). You go get plastic ware yourself. We never got a drink, not sure if it is even offered here. I was nevercontacted once while eating after the food was delivered. You clean up your table yourself and throw trash in the garbage. From what I observed, why would anyone tip here? It doesn't make sense, but avoiding the tip is fine with me. The mealconsisted of 2 chicken tenders on one dish and one chicken tender on the other dish. In total, 3 chicken tenders, some fries, apiece of garlic toast, cheese sauce, coleslaw on the sandwich, bun, and that's pretty much it. Was it good? Yes. Was it worth$25? That is questionable. The environment was very loud similar to a sports bar. Not necessarily my preference but Iunderstand some people like this. The interior was very modernized and clean. The restaurant was very warm too, probably over75 degrees inside. Overall, it's a good restaurant but not something I'll gravitate to in the future. Read more
