After a Doc visit and looking at online reviews we gave this place a chance, what a let down. Arriving at 4pm hostess sat us... near a window and said someone would be with us. After waiting about 5 min the same lady came back to take our order, pen inhand, however we never received our menus. When she brought our drinks she stated she was leaving soon and a new server wastaking over. 15 min later she brought out our food. I had a pasta and my wife ordered the Cod fish sandwich. My pasta wasgood but the fish sandwich was what looked like boiled fish filet on cold bread, no sign of any browning or seasoning or evensome mayo, just a small piece of wet lettuce and a boiled piece of fish. Well our new server showed up! I had placed the fishplate at the edge of the table looking for someone when she approached politely say "how is everything", I stated "not good,this sandwich is horrible". Without missing a beat and still smiling she said "Oh, would you like some more tea". I said I'mnot paying for this sandwich, she said that's over her head, I actually had to ask for someone who could fix it while she juststared at me. The manager approached and after showing the sandwich he said "it's not breaded" and would handle it. Awesome modern take on southern classics. They make a Last Word cocktail but with mezcal instead of gin. Their pimento cheese... starter is excellent with fried naan and jalapeno in the dip. I ordered the filet mignon which was cooked perfectly and the sideCesar salad has an excellent dressing. The garlic mashed potatoes are a little too garlicky. My wife ordered the crab cakeswhich were fine but the least favorite of everything we ordered. We'll have to come back for dessert some time as the listlooked amazing but we were too full. The hospitality was good. I ordered the shrimp and grits. The tomato flavor was too strong. The grits were cooked well but... lacked seasoning. Also, the dish had way too many peppers, and onions. They weren't seasoned either. The portion size was greatbut this dish wasn't good. Nothing was seasoned. For the cost of the meal, I would try something else on the menu. Last thing,I ordered a cup of coffee. It was old! My waitress told me I had to wait for her to brew a fresh pot....didn't happen. At fourbucks a cup, you should get a fresh cup of coffee. Food was great. Sweat tea drinks were delicious. Wait staff is the only reason this isn't a 5 star review. Haley was our... waitress and we rarely saw her. Empty glasses and dishes were left on our table instead of removed. They were busy this weekendwith IU graduation and automatically put a 20% tip on our table of 3. Read more

This was the worst food i’ve had in WHILE. This was supposed to “soul food & black owned” but there wasn’t a black... person in site, ( including the workers) My chicken tenders tasted like absolute garbage. They were cold, they over seasoned itwith PEPPER. BLACK PEPPER. The fries were absolutely horrible. They tasted freezer burnt, and most definitely over seasoned.
