We stopped into the Amrit India after a day of exploring around Bloomington and the UI campus. We ordered butter chicken, and a... chicken curry, from a delightful host who was enormously accommodating. We were treated as good friends even though it is ourfirst trip to Bloomington, which seems to be the norm here. We carried our order out and devoured these delicious dishes inshort order at the hotel. I don't particularly search out Indian food restaurants but the Amrit India is superb and the nan wasalso really good there. I only wish I was hungry again this morning, but no, the portions were huge, so I'll have to wait forlunch. Read more

I order from this restaurant frequently and I’m normally happy with the food. However, today my garlic naan order was not... right. The two pieces on the left are typical of what I receive but the pieces on the right are a little slivers in comparison.I ordered two garlic naans an d paid about $8 so this is disappointing. one of my curry containers was also not full, as I amaccustomed too and the paneer was cold . Not sure what happened, hoping this is just an off/busy night. Edit: ordered again amonth later and food was exactly as expected- Delicious! Read more

Amrit was heaven for me and my family, thank you so much “Avi” for making our lunch so astonishing??. We were looking for... some Indian cuisine and searched Indian restaurants in town and Amrit was one of them. Very pleasant environment and the serverwas attentive and professional. Service was excellent level, refilling of water, also the mango drink which is pretty famous Iguess, was given complementary to my little one. Read more

I love Indian food. I’ve very rarely eaten an Indian dish that I didn’t like. I did not like what I got here. I got chicken... biryani last night. It looked good. Lots of attractive colors. However, it was extremely bland. Almost no taste. No spice atall. The chicken was dry (likely due to it being over cooked). This may have been just an anomaly, but my next Indian takeoutwill not be from The Amrit. Read more

The food is delicious but their service is subpar. My friend and I were in need of refills and the servers were sitting down... messing with their phones; we had to motion to them that our glasses were empty before they got up and refilled them. Thatwon’t keep me away but don’t eat there if you’re in a big hurry because they’re fairly slow. Read more
