France is famous for its culinary delight, and Petit Robert Bistro is an easy access place in Boston that you can have good... food. The last time I tried the coq au vin, and it had a really impressive after taste. The pasta was also yummy and tastedreally well with the coq au vin sauce. Here, the restaurant also has seafood and other traditional French food (pâté, fromage,etc.). The atmosphere is cozy and romantic, which is good for dating! Read more

I so wish this place was better. Being in town for University Parents weekend, we were looking for a brunch place. We first went... down the street to a small sandwich shop, Charley’s(?), put our name in, but the wait was extremely long, so we walked up thestreet to Robert’s. I have to say, even with no reservation, they took us immediately for outside seating. :) We were a partyof 3. The place was absolutely charming, outside and in. Our waiter, I wish I could remember his name, was delightful and veryaccommodating. Unfortunately, that is where the fairytale ends. We ordered the burger platter, eggs Benedict, and eggs overeasy, potatoes, bacon and toast, coffee and water. We waited over an hour and a half before our food came, as was the case withmost of the tables around us, who were all sitting idle for at least 90 mins without their meals. My dish,Eggs Benedict wastasty, my only complaint would be that no one ever came back to offer a second cup of coffee (coffee was delicious, btw), myhusbands eggs over easy was missing toast and bacon and my poor daughters hamburger was disgustingly RAW, even though sherequested well done. I noticed the table next to ours, the woman there had not touched her burger either. The waiter, Bless hisheart, felt badly (i mean the thing looked like it literally had just been slaughtered) and did not charge us for the hamburgerand actually brought my daughter a chocolate mousse dessert which made her smile. The bacon never arrived, The waiter did bringmy husband one piece of toast, but by the time he got it, the table buser had taken away our plates. :( I’m not sure whatkind of commotion was going on in the kitchen today, but seeing all the people at this restaurant, I’m guessing maybe theywere just having a really, really, bad day . I would have marked this rating lower, but our waiter saved the day! We won’t beback, but maybe if we were locals, we would give it another shot down the line. Read more

Unpretentious French bistro with a good mix of modern and classic French cuisines. Bistro isn’t a huge part of Boston’s... dining scene, but Petit Robert is probably the most popular one in the area. I recently took a visit with my family, and we weresatisfied with the overall experience. During our visit, we saw a huge crowd on their patio, so we chose to dine indoors wherewe found ourselves surrounded by excellent decors. Surprisingly, we were the only group inside, but our host initially gave us abad table. Upon request, we later moved to a nicer one, yet it wasn’t a pleasant start to the meal. Our server, however, wasvery friendly, and he managed to make up for the host’s mistake. We started off with some escargots and beef tartare. Theescargots were a bit too salty, but the beef tartare was superb. The chunky bits gave a nice chewy texture that contrasted withthe crisps, and the veggie toppings gave it a refreshing finish. While their entrée menu was mostly focused on bistro classics, there were some dishes that had just the right amount of creative tweaking of the classics. The lamb racks and the seasonalrisotto were examples of such a style. Coq au vin was also a deeply comforting dish. Not only were the meat extremely tender, but also the subtle wine flavor was enriching. We missed the dessert options as we weren’t able to find our server for awhile at the end of the meal. Nevertheless, Petit Robert definitely qualified as a good bistro, and I look forward for tryingtheir upcoming spot in Cambridge. Read more

I adore Petit Robert Bistro for a weekend brunch. The omelettes are only okay - but the included side salad and fries (!!!) are... awesome, especially given the price. The atmosphere is very chic. We sat inside due to the weather but snagged a table besidethe window for people watching. In better conditions, I would choose to sit outside because the patio is lovely. My only realcomplaint is that there is only one single-stalled bathroom, which can result in waiting in a very cramped area. Otherwise, thisis a brunch spot I would recommend! Read more
