Had the breakfast spaghetti. Will be back, the food was great and staff very friendly. Authenticity rated high for Haitian food.
I've been here about 3 times. The food was good however this last time i went, there was a RAT in the restaurant. I told the... lady that was serving me and she acted as if she didn't understand. I then typed it on my phone and she started shaking herhead. I then called the restaurant to tell someone else and they also acted as if they didn't understand but understoodeverything else i was saying. Personally i WILL NOT BE COMING BACK HERE. I love Tropical Island Restaurant, this is the second time I've been here and I plan to come every time I'm in Florida, which is... a couple times a year. For now, I will just review my recent visit. They open early and serve breakfast, I was told they startserving lunch around 1130. I ordered the goat curry over the phone and the lady was so sweet. She kind of had a heavy Caribbeanaccent, I felt bad for making her repeat her sentence more than once. She was trying to ask me what kind of rice. lol In the endI said surprise me. The goat curry is exactly what I expected, fall off the bone delish, it was a bit spicy but I loved it. Thered onions and peppers on top paired well with it. I got the fried rice and all of it was sooo good. The crispiness of theplantains just brings the entire dish together. (Dip the plantain in the sauce, you'll thank me later) I will be back, thankyou! Food taken a long time to be made unless your haitian or speak creo you just might end up with "Old" food and not fresh ,so make... sure to talk in creo or you will probably get old food. Food take 30 minutes for stew chicken to be made ???? highlydisappointed because this was an great restaurant before covid now im not sure whats going on here anymore the chicken lookedlike it was couple of days old and i did not eat the meat what so ever you all have been warned dont tale your date here pleaseand thank you .you both will regret it.
