Food was really good! We got take out. Didn't get my tartar sauce for my catfish but it was delicious. The honey lavender... cheesecake was quite an experience! Read more
Our first time at Jake's, maybe our one and only.???? We met my brother and his wife there, on their recommendation. My wife had... the chicken fried steak with creamed potatoes and turnip greens. She liked the potatoes and the steak; but she thought there wastoo much breading on the steak. She asked me to taste the greens. Not sure what that flavor was, but neither of us cared forit. I ordered the grilled catfish fillet po' boy. The "catfish" didn't look like good ol' U.S. farm-raised catfish. I asked ourserver where they got the catfish. "Out of the water," wasn't the best way for her to answer that question. I spent over 17yearsin the catfish processing industry. I'm sorry I ordered Jake's grilled "catfish" po'boy. Never again. First time to eat there was a couple of days ago. I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. Green beans and iced... tea. The portions were large, service was efficient and courteous. Good old home cooking. Do not let this gem slip under yourradar. Read more
Some of the food was delicious! Had a fried chicken, Swiss, & bacon sandwich. Chicken was very crispy & juicy, & the Mac and... cheese was bomb. But the waitress was not very attentive to the issue that the burger tasted like dishwater. We informed herthat the burger was inedible & she merely said, ?sorry? & didn?t offer to replace it & still charged us for it. Only took threesmall bites out of it & didn?t finish.
