Loved the service, loved the food, loved the portion sizes, loved the atmosphere! The Mixed Grill was so tasty. They offered a... variety of dipping sauces to accompany the entrees. The sauces were so flavorful. My family utterly enjoyed our family nightout. Will definitely be dining here again. Read more

DO NOT EVER SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. If I could, I would have rated -1,000,000. We ordered tabbouli, grape leaves, fries, kibbeh,... mixed shawarma platter, and a mixed grill platter. The tabbouli is exorbitantly overpriced for the tiny plate you get, but Iwouldn?t have minded had it been edible. The parsley was so coarse you could choke on it. It also tasted bitter and had a veryoff flavor, as if one of the ingredients had gone bad. It had no mint, no green onion, and had a teaspoon of tomato on top ofthe parsley pile. The kibbeh needed salt and had a thick outer layer; pretty boring not well seasoned. The fries were the frozenseasoned kind you get from walmart. The grape leaves were embarrassingly horrible. They had no flavor of mint or parsley or anyof the flavor they are supposed to have. The rice filling was so gummy it sticks to the roof of your mouth. The shawarma wasold, dry, flavorless, and cold. Both meat and chicken. It tasted like it was grilled, but had no seasoning whatsoever. Thegarlic sauce didn?t taste like garlic or anything else for that matter, and the ?tarator? had no flavor of lemon or salt. It wasliterally watered down tahini. The rice that comes with both the shawarma and mixed grill is 1/2 kabseh/mandi half Jordanianmansaf rice. The kabseh/mandi had a sort of curry spice flavor and the Jordanian rice is just colored yellow with no flavor atall. Last but definitely not least, the mixed grill. The tawook and the kafta were the only good thing on that platter. Bothtasted of exactly what they?re supposed to. The kabob, however, was ridiculously chewy and tasted so gamey. I?m not sure if theyused lamb that was bad or something but it was horrible tasting. We literally left with over half the food still in the plates.Total came out to be almost $85. Read more

Albawadi is our classic immersive Palestinian/middle eastern restaurant. Beautiful decor, buzzing environment, friendly service,... and great selection of traditional and grilled middle eastern food. Make sure you reserve. Seafood and Veggie optionsavailable. The bread is fresh and good on its own. Hummus is excellent with spicy oil topping. The meats are tender. Plenty ofhot and cold appetizers. I usually love chicken kefta kabob but it was not my favorite here, still pretty good. Fries are greatand seasoned. Tabboula is a lemony. Beware: the complementary appetizers and the appetizers you order will likely fill you upbefore your meal. Generous portions and you will definitely take have leftovers to enjoy the next day. Dinner prices a bitabove average. Sandwich prices are average. You can not claim to have middle eastern food in Chicago without visiting albawadi. Fun spot. And remember to tip the coffee host. Truly amazing restaurant. They are always very nice and friendly at all the locations. I love how it is decorated so carefully... and authentic. They offer coffee as you sit down in small paper cups which is a nice touch. Easy to find and lots of parking.Food is delicious and there are so many options. They do give out a small plate of bread, babaganoush and pickled veggies beforeyour meal and it is free. Appetizers are delicious and can make you full. All the food is well worth the price. You will notmake a mistake no matter what you order and they have many options and you can make substitutions. Definitely recommend thisrestaurant. Read more
