We reserved a table for 7. The couple that arrived first, about 5 minutes early, was told they could not sit there until we all... arrived. We ordered drinks and appetizers to begin our meal. Our waiter seemed distracted, walking away while we were askingquestions. Some drinks were not prepared as ordered, but were corrected after about 20 minutes of waiting. We jokingly toastedour anniversaries with water. After about 45 minutes, our waiter finally was summoned by us to take our dinner order. 45 minuteslater, we still had not been served. We watched two tables around us, who had arrived later than us, eating their dessert andleaving as we waited. Our waiter claimed that the kitchen was tied up. We finally asked for the manager. About 15 minutes latershe arrived to hear our complaint. She respectfully checked for our food. About 20 minutes later, it was finally delivered byservers. There was no apology or excuse given. After eating, she asked if we wanted anything else. There was never an offer todiscount the bill for our inconvenience. We ordered one dessert, and it was added to the bill. To make matters worse, one couplewas billed twice the full amount of the entire table on their credit card, and once for the amount they owed. Aftercomplaining, they were refunded the extra amount in about a week. The food was good, but all of the annoyance ruined theevening for all of us. We will not be returning to this restaurant. Excellent food, high prices, and a total zoo on the weekend, but early weekday dinners are fine. We first had dinner at 7:30 pm... on a Friday night in late August 2019. Fortunately we had outside seating because the noise level inside was intolerable. Ourwaitress said it was much worse on a Saturday night, and that she usually lost her voice by have to yell so much in order to beheard. Service was very good and the food was excellent. Portion sizes are not large and the prices are high, but we felt wedid get value for our money.. There is a huge bar scene which contributes to the noise lever in the restaurant. We have sincereturned here several times over the years for an early dinner at 5:30 pm on a weekday with outside seating. It doesn't startgetting crazy until around 7:30 pm, when we're ready to leave. This has become one of our favorite restaurants at the JerseyShore now that we have figured out the best time and days to eat here. Show less Read more

The food was decent and fairly priced but our busboy Phil was amazing. I’ve never seen someone move with such urgency zipping... around the restaurant. He was so attentive and friendly and was actually much better than our waiter who sat us at a table withno silverware at a fine dining place and didn’t notice for 20 minutes; Phil noticed, apologized, (even though it wasn’t hisfault), and rectified also bringing us our bread which we didn’t get and our waiter didn’t catch onto. He should be a waiterthere, not a busboy. Even noticed the small fine dining details like putting his one hand behind his back while pouring ourwater which I didn’t see anyone else do. Very elevated. Our waiter didn’t know the market price of anything and had to checkwhich was strange. Ordered my steak rare and got it medium to medium rare. The manager was kind of rude when we walked in. Mymom asked if we could sit inside and she said they were fully booked but our whole meal we observed 4 indoor tables that satvacant up until we left which we could see through the glass from the patio. She also had an attitude with my mom when she askedher a question putting her finger up saying, “I said one minute, I’m doing something.” Even if a customer is annoying youshould stay polite and not get testy. I use to manage a large NYC retail flagship so I’m very big on customer service andwould never tolerate that type of behavior amongst my team. The manager should be walking the room and checking in on the guestexperience vs. standing at the hostess booth the whole night. Had she, I would have given this feedback to her directly and notshared such on a review. Went here and to Red’s, (same owner), and we all agreed the lobster tail, steak, and service was muchbetter at Red’s. Red’s is AMAZING and one of our favorites so we were hoping for the same caliber of food and experience butI’d say overall Shipwreck was just good whereas Red’s is out of this world. Read more
