I was not impressed at all with this place. Do not waste your money at the restaurant. I ordered a Buffalo burger. It was so burnt and dry and expensive. I told her I could not eat it as it was terribly dry and burnt. She kinda shrugged her shoulders and walked away. My friend had stew. It had 2 pieces of meat in it, not even vegetables just gravy. He ate his 2 pieces of meat and she came by and asked if we were done. And took our uneaten food and gave us a bill for almost $40. We were going to walk around but it's another $15 to see stuff you can see for free anywhere else. The whole place was just out to rip people off. I would never recommend going here.
Great place to visit to experience how life may have been here 150 years ago. The people there are dressed as back then and are very nice and welcoming. If you want they have a lot of things to tell about the history. Very interesting! You can take rides in the stagecoach (they don't charge extra for that).
The restaurant was a total disappointment.. Very expensive for what was served, my wife got a So called Buffalo Burger that was dry and burnt. And for myself I got the Buffalo stew which was supposed to be loaded with meat, BAWHAHAHAHA I got 2 tiny pieces and a few carrots and greasy Bannock. So biscuit and gravy. All for $42.32. What a rip off. Oh and 15.00 per person to walk through the ranch. No to much.
The ranch itself is very well maintained and preserved. The buildings, especially the roadhouse, are full of authentic details and information. It's easy and pleasant to stroll around the ranch to take a look at everything. We had booked a two-night stay in one of the family cabins, and were aware that the restaurant closes at 5. We made sure we arrived by 4 on Sunday so we could order our supper. However, upon arrival, we were told the restaurant was closing early (4:00) and that we couldn't get any food there. This meant travelling back to Cache Creek to find supper, about a half hour round trip. We also found out the restaurant is currently closed on Mondays, meaning our next day's meals had to be taken in town as well. I sent the management an email to let them know they should update their website, but I see they still haven't done it, so anybody arriving Monday for the evening would have been disappointed and inconvenienced. It also seems the ranch is short-staffed as there were no stagecoach rides available and some of the buildings (i.e. the blacksmith's shop) had no interpreters present. The family cabin was clean and adequate, but guests should know there is no wifi at the cabins and no blow dryer in the room. Wifi only seems to be available at the restaurant/office.
Excellent place to stay for the night - sites were pristine and spacious. Breakfast in the morning was also great and the staff were all very friendly. Highly recommended
Very nice staff. Got a "private" stage coach tour. Great! Very entertaing. Felt like in the "good old times". Very interesting information about the goldrush time.
Sm amazing piece of history. Very knowledgeable, friendly, kind and generous people here. We spent 2 of the most enjoyable hours learning about the history of the hat Creek ranch. We had a stage coach ride, a walking tour, and experienced old fashioned home cooking from scratch. Those mini muffins were amazing!! Our tour guides were fun, pleasant and comical. A great way to spend while traveling through. Great job guys and gals. Thank You for sharing with us.
A fantastic place to camp. The ranch is truly breathtaking and magical. The site is so clean and tidy and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Highly recommend a trip to this beautiful place!
