Menu for Gus's Pizza in Calgary, AB

To qualify this opinion, I come from a long history of working in, and owning, pizza restaurants. I was skeptical because I've... had little luck finding decent pizza in 2 years coming to Calgary regularly. However...Gus's was a wonderful surprise. Thecrust is light with a night crunch, sweet but not overpoweringly so. The sauce provided a solid base for the ample toppingswithout trying to take all of the attention for itself. A great team player, bringing the flavors together. And the cheese,shredded in house, is a lovely blend that caps things off perfectly. My only suggestion...don't change a thing!!! All of thisat a reasonable price with fun, conscientious serving staff who played along with my whimsical and sarcastic sense ofhumour!! 100% WILL be going back and highly recommend! Read more

We shared 2 large pizzas (Hawaiian, pepperoni & bacon & mushroom) and an order of bruschetta. It was all great! The pizzas come... hot and with a good amount of toppings and melty cheese. The (thick) crust is also slightly crispy which is a nice touch.Definitely satisfies the pizza fix! Having been here many times, it's also worth trying out their baked cannelloni and meatballsub! Went and picked up a couple pizzas to bring to my wife in the hospital. Crust is crispy. Perfect amount of sauce to cheese to... topping ratio. Will definitely make another trip sometime. Read more

We've been here a few times for pizza a day its one of our preferred places as we love the Greek style pizza! We got Gus'... Special which includes shrimp. I would have generally given a 5 start for taste and possibly service but the shrimp has the sh%ttrails still in them.....disgusting! I mentioned this and the server didn't seem to really care! Seems for other photos this isa common occurrence! I was super disappointed the server or no one else at very minimum addressed the issue on ANY level! Thenthe bottom is super soggy, we had to ask for extra napkins so we could mop it up so it didn't get more and more soggy. I agreewith another person's post....pans with the holes may help! Disappointed. Will probably opt for Matador Pizza over Gus's nexttime just cause they didn't really seem to care. Anyhow, we ended up pulling all the shrimp off! If you don't care for the pooptrails....don't get the shrimp!!! Read more

Service was very good. I dined in today. Outside pizza crust, mushrooms, ground beef, cheese and sauce tasty. However, the bacon... wasn't what I expected. It's the sliced light colored meat visible on the partially eaten slice in photo (I had to ask what itwas since i thought there might be a mix up). I guess I thought it would be crumbled bacon like most places so I didn't get abacon taste from the pizza at all. It was fine but just something to be aware of. The worst part for me was the soggy bottomcrust. I still ate it of course but I would have enjoyed it much much more if it hasn't been so soggy. Maybe they need to serveon pizza pans with the holes in them so grease can drain. To be fair, I didn't complain so they didn't have the opportunity tofix it. Read more
