Extremely underwhelming breakfast. High hopes due to good ratings, but our experience was not great - egg dishes unseasoned,... cold on arrival, and service. While cheerful, was quite slow. ???? Read more

3 stars for food. They could definitely season the food a little more lol. But solid hangover food and let's be honest, that's... what I was there for. 5 stars for my server Katherine who was super welcoming and sweet, and never lost her friendly tone withall her tables even when she was super busy. I find this place to one of thee best establishments to grab a bite to eat or to. Meet n greet for a beverage. I?d say... support a local business however, unfortunately there is no such thing as supporting local establishments these days as everyoneshops Amazon and or Costco and makes giants that much more wealthier. Nevertheless this is definitely a great place to go. I?ll bet you agree when you get customer service from the wonderful waitress that is bustling her culo to sssure that yourexperience is is absolutely amazing Don?t take my word though Try it. Should've read the reviews before eating here. The wait for everything was insane. It took a good 25 minutes to get a cup of... coffee and about an hour for my food to arrive. I tried to be patient but contemplated leaving multiple times. The worst part isthat once the food came it was incredibly disappointing. Only good part was the toast...Save yourself the time and money andcheck out some of the other places nearby. Read more

There's a review from (admittedly) a year ago or so which paralelled our experience today to a surprising degree. We waited so... long for our food (not crowded at all, but there's more to what they do than I can see, I'm sure) that I almost got up to justpay for what we ordered and leave to get breakfast somewhere else. At this point, I wish I had done exactly that. When the foodfinally arrived it ranged from perfectly fine (not great, to be clear, but good) to a couple of things which literally made mywife say, "I don't know how they sell this." Imagine an almond waffle the thickness of a magazine which you can't cut with yourfork. (No exaggeration.) We couldn't eat it. I have a lot of bad feelings about leaving a bad review after what everyone hasbeen through in our country, but in over 20 years of visiting Santa Cruz (every year), I've never had such a disappointingeating experience. Not even close. To a person, everyone there seemed like "good people," but to not apologize or evenacknowledge our situation was striking. I asked, when requesting our check, "Would you say our experience was typical for 'TheCook House'?" The woman's response was, "Well, I don't know. There were a lot of to go orders that came in when you were here."And, that's it. Buyer beware. Read more
