The best filet mignon I have ever eaten. Perfectly cooked with crisp grilled vegetables. Salad and ice cream too. Out in the... middle of nowhere but was packed! Make a reservation. Took half an hour to get there, but totally worth it! Read more
Didn?t care for the food or the ambiance but the staff are lovely. You need a reservation. The food was just OK. I had the filet... and baked potato, my husband had the ribeye with veggies. Ordered my steak medium, it was medium rare so sent it back. Myhusband ordered his medium well, it was well. Our drinks were Moscow mules- they were ok. The Hitching Post is one of my favorite restaurants in all of California. It begins with a beautiful drive through farmlands and... cattle ranches. Driving in to Casmalia is like going back in time and The Hitching Post is the lifeblood of this classic westerntown. The restaurant is in an old tavern and has been serving delicious steaks the Santa Maria style for 65 years. Every meal iscomplete in every way. You choose your meat and then it?s a veggie tray, shrimp cocktail, salad, baked potato or fries, garlictoast, drink, and dessert! I was here a year ago and had a great experience. This year was almost a good, but the girl behind the bar was struggling a... little. Other than that, great steak again! Any of the Hitching Post reds go great with them. I got the 12oz ribeye. I had thebaked potato last time but got the fries this time. Both good options.
