EL SALTO Mexican Restaurant is new to Cedar Lake, IN located on Wicker Ave. I had the opportunity of stopping in & dining on a... Friday late afternoon & this restaurant was filling up quickly. It is set on the end of a strip mall & convenient to access. The decor was whimsical & colorful with ?Day of the Dead? metal sculptures throughout. The bar well stocked with liquors, wineas well as bottled beers & tap imports/exports. My friend & I were seated promptly & the staff was very accommodating &friendly. The restaurant itself was clean & inviting. My order was 3 tacos & my friend ordered the same. I also had a smallguacamole & a sour cream. Our drinks were 1 beer & a cola. It is worth mentioning the tacos were ?very delicious? althoughcome with cheese & lettuce?.(tomatoes & toppings are add-ons). Our bill was $53.00 ..with tip put us over $60. I found thisvenue to be on the higher end of the Mexican cuisine restaurants I have frequented. As I was leaving this venue was fillingquickly & I wish them the very best. I however, am reluctant to the price point. I hope this review is helpful to others. Read more

I had previously gone to el salto, ordered 3 steak tacos on flour with cheese, what i had got what an unseasoned strip steak cut... into very large cubes, with shells underneath a puddle of cheese, i had to eat the steak with the chips to enjoy any of thefood, i paid $18 plus tip for 3 tacos and a drink flash forward to today, i decide to try them again, this time i decide to trya burrito, i received a burrito that was practically flat, with more, unseasoned strip steak in it, i took 3 bites of theburrito before pushing the plate to the side, i finished the chips, and sat there with an empty drink cup for 5 minutes, i wasasked if i wanted more chips (which they would have charged me $2 for, they didn?t mention that, but i saw the fine print on themenu) but i was never asked how the food was, i left the burrito sitting on the plate for them to see 2 unpleasant experiences,i won?t be going back, which is unfortunate, i?ll just go to EL JIMADOR down the road, cheaper prices, better staff, and betterfood Read more

Great meal, great new atmosphere, and attentive staff! I wasn?t disappointed like most small chains that branch out. My wife and... I have loved the location in merrillville/Hobart, but where hesitant to try the new cedar lake spot. It was amazing and will beour go to from now on. Really great draft beer selection and the full menu from other locations. Chips and salsa where on point, food was fresh and hot, and nothing deviated from the high standard the other locations had set. I couldn?t be more thrilled tohave good spot close to home! Read more

Had the shrimp dish with a garlic sauce. I had the kitchen add crushed chili's. Sauce was good. Even better drizzle over the... rice along with what dripped off my tacos. I met Chandon, plesant guy. Impressed that he went so far as to praise an employee infront of other team members. Excellent moral booster. Read more
