Upscale fast food: Get The Bread. The Ribeye attempts to tote itself as an upscale restaurant. The reality is: the only thing... ?upscale? here is the prices. High prices does not mean you?re getting a premium product. The best items on the menu was themediocre salad bar and the honey wheat bread. Before I could finish the salad they were bringing my entree as if to hurry us outof the restaurant. No- it was no where near closing time. 10/10 would not recommend. Read more

The Ribeye is one of those unique places that doesn't really change too much over the years- and its perfect. Every dinner we... have there we talk about memories of being there before. "We sat right there when you graduated" pointing. "I remember eatingwith Grandma and Grandpa for my birthday when I was 12- right there!". Like the ambiance and decor- the crowd is pretty muchthe same too. Families filling up before an Illini game with extra trips to the salad bar and a couple extra slices of theirlittle white and wheat breads. The menu hasn't changed much either. Thank God. Sizzling steaks and chicken on those iron pansthat toast the bread a little. Gigantic shrimp with a cocktail sauce with a little horseradish- but just enough. They havecrab cakes now too- I don't remember them from before but they're delicious. The Ribeye is a CU staple and foe damn finereason. They only do a few things, but they're spectacular. Read more

Decent restaurant with some old-school dishes. My ribeye was overdone but I did not complain. Nobody in my party complained,... either, so it may have just been me. Good salad bar. Nice setting. Inviting. Dated but in a good way. Will likely return. Read more

This was my first time visiting The Ribeye. Located off South Neil Street, it's very easy to get to. The parking around the... building is a little tight, but there are plenty of spaces. The inside is more on the dimly lit side with seating that's alittle close, especially around the salad bar area. Starting with the salad bar, it's amazing. As a complimentary addition toentrees it's a great deal. The salad was fresh with plenty of options for toppings including real bacon bits. There are avariety of pasta salads to choose from as well, though I did not try any of those. The bread loaf that comes with the table isalso amazing. The white bread is soft, but what makes it so great is the heap of butter that comes with it. It's SO good! I wentwith a 20oz ribeye, medium rare. First cut it was perfectly cooked, which was impressive considering how thick this monster was.It lacked salt for the size, but table salt was available. After salting it was delicious and tender. Unfortunately, noteverything stayed so great or this place would have gotten 5 stars. The food is delivered on a hot plate, still sizzling when itcomes from the kitchen. Don't touch it or you will be burned. I think this could be mitigated with a handle sleeve, an easyaddition, but one overlooked. However, the biggest issue here is that it continues to cook your food while it's just sittingthere. My massive medium rare steak was medium well by the time I got 3/4 done with it. When you're paying $50 for a steak, that's the last thing you want. The baked potato was unfortunately overcooked from the beginning and by the time the meal wasover I couldn't even cut through the skin due to the continued cooking. The sauteed mushrooms were not impacted by the hotplate and were great from start to finish. The waitress was attentive and very polite, being the first time here she was happyto make recommendations on her personal favorites. I will be back and I do recommend giving it a try for a special o Read more
