Last night I visited this Cafe Rio location with my partner, going through the Drive Thru and ordered my food with no issues. It... was made perfectly and delicious. The guy working there was very nice and even gave us a free drink even though I didn't orderone. Once I got home and opened my bag, I discovered that the young man who helped us had written a very kind note on the lid.I have had a horrible last two weeks and it's wrecked havoc on my mental health, and yesterday had been one of the worst. Seeingthis little note honestly made my day and deeply touched me. That gentleman didn't have any idea what is going on with me, so Iappreciate his random act of kindness. I never expected something like this from a Cafe Rio and I don't know his name, but Ihope Cafe Rio knows what a valuable employee they have and hopefully he gets some much earned recognition. I usually go to the Cafe Rio by Chandler Mall and I will keep going there from now on. I heard about this location due to an... offer I got in the mail - buy 1 entree and get the 2nd one free. There was also another coupon buy 1 entree and get chips forfree. So I ordered a burrito and a salad , both with sweet pork barbacoa. I always get this especially that I love the taste ofit. I mentioned clearly what I wanted and the guy serving it even repeated ?pork? meat. It looked like the meat was on the stovewhile he was testing its temperature while still cooking, I was fine with that till I got home to find out that he did not gaveme the pork meat. It was chicken instead and the taste was not even close to what I was used to when having the pork barbacoa. Iwas so so disappointed. On top of that, while at the register, I was asking about the 2nd coupon if I get the chips as part ofpromotion. The girl at the register was very quick and impolite in answering . She said - it comes with 1 entree ( which I got). It would have been nice to explain that if I got the buy 1 get 1 free it did not apply , however ?she kinda let me hangingwith her answer. I wished I was able to give a better review but this was my experience. The employees definitely need goodtraining in preparing the food and having the customer service that is lacking. Read more

My husband and I have had cafe Rio multiple times a month for the past several years. We love the food and we were excited that... this new location opened as it is closer to us. We have been to this new location about 4 or 5 times and each time we are moredisappointed, but this last time will be the last that we dine here. The staff all seem like they hate their job and are verydifficult to communicate with. The staff member making my order seemed annoyed when I asked him for something different than theusual order and completely ignored me when I asked for extra meat and in general, it seems like the staff members need moretraining as they don't seem to always know what they're doing. That, however, was the least of our worries. A few minutes in toeating our food, my husband and I both started to notice that the taste was extremely off. Several of the food items did nottaste right. The beans seemed to be very hard and tasted stale, and the meat had a bad taste to it as well. Our tortillas werealso extremely chewy and did not seem to be cooked all the way. We are currently waiting to see if we have any gastrointestinalailments after this experience. We will definitely not be returning to this location. Read more

This was our first time visiting this restaurant. We used the drive-thru and ordered a burrito to share. We picked the Sweet... Pork Barbacoa, since that seems to be their signature item. We asked for the rice and pinto beans with mild sauce inside. Theywere out of the mild sauce, so we asked for the medium on the side, instead. The employee taking the order was polite andpatient since this was our first time ordering. We didn't know that enchilada-style was included in the price or we probablywould have ordered it like that. Most places charge extra for enchilada style. We drove to the window to pay and our order wasdone really quickly. When we got home and removed the container from the bag, the presentation of the food looked nice with theburrito and a lettuce garnish on the side. When we took the burrito out of the container to split and the bottom of the burritowas completely soggy with juice from the pico de gallo that was on the lettuce garnish. It might have been better if there was apartition in the container to keep the wet lettuce and tomatoes away from the burrito. As far as the taste of the burrito, Iwould have to call it average. We don't live far from the restaurant, maybe 5 minutes, and the burrito was barely warm when wegot home. Maybe if we would have gotten it enchilada style it would have been warmer with sauce and cheese melted on top and wewouldn't have noticed the wet tortilla on the bottom as much. My son liked the sweet pork and I thought it was too sweet. Wewill try it again, though. Maybe next time we will dine inside so we can see the food options better and ask more questionsabout the best way to order. They also have a rewards program called Rio Rewards where you get points and special offers whenyou sign up. You can also order online from their website and pick it up at the restaurant. Read more

Very unimpressed. We?ve been to other Cafe Rios around the valley, and they were great so we were really excited to try the new... one near us. Big disappointment. I really don?t think the employees cared about their work at all. The kid making the burritojust sloped stuff in the tortilla. Then when he tried to wrap it the tortilla split on one end and the other end looked morelike an open enchilada. It was a mess. Then he proceeded to throw lettuce along with the water it was sitting in on top. Now asoggy mess. Then after I paid, the cashier just walked away to talk with another employee, while I had to reach over the counterto take the bag off the rack. We?ll give them one more try, but there are too many great restaurants around to keep spendingmoney at one with employees who take no pride in their work. Sad thing is, I was the only one in there.
