Really nice experience at The Ivy Inn for our anniversary. We went in not quite knowing what to expect since we had someone set... up the reservation as a gift for us. Our server was great (and I feel terrible for not remembering his name.) Very sociable. Now unfortunately we had an unexpected late lunch so we realized appetizer, main, and dessert wasn't likely. We figured startwith the main and go from there. They actually started with a small pimiento cheese "bite" which was nice. I usually do notlike pimiento cheese, but this was good. Bread was also quite delicious with a nice, light texture. I went with a rockfishtopped with crab over greens with baby potatoes. The fish was light and the big pieces of crab added a hint of sweetness. Mywife had the filet that had a twice baked potato on the side. The only minor miss was we each ordered desserts (a bunch soundedreally good) and we ended up with one, beautifully customized, to split. In the end it worked and we didn't have the otherdessert on the bill. It was just more of an unexpected, "Did they forget?" moment. Read more

Pretty much everything about this dinner was perfect. The character of the place itself is very old-fashioned and colonial (it... could maybe be updated a bit), every single person who works here is lovely, Corey, in particular was awesome, and the servicewas fast and courteous and classy. It was also much less expensive than I thought it would be. Everything was a pleasantsurprise. We will definitely be back next time we're in the area. My only criticisms are a small-ish, hard-to-maneuver parkinglot and only two single bathrooms. And I personally don't like an only-American wine list, but my husband was totally fine withit. I reserved a table for my husband and I to celebrate our anniversary. Walking into the restaurant, I knew it was very welcoming... and intimate from the start. Love the candlelight and southern home feel. Excellent service by our waiter who made our eveningspecial with conversation, politeness and professionalism. The food was delicious! I had the sweet potato empanada, thebolognese pasta, and the pumpkin cake for dessert. They also provided us complementary glasses of champagne and cookies at theend of the meal. Definitely would recommend any couple who wants to take their partner somewhere fancy and special. Thanks tothe staff and chefs for everything! Read more

I've eaten at a number of Michelin star restaurants in my life and how this restaurant hasn't been awarded one yet, is beyond... me. The entire experience was flawlessly executed. The server was completely on top of everything, the presentation of the foodwas exceptional - and the taste... I was blown away by how flavorful everything single bite was of every single dish. Thecrispy pork belly appetizer was incredible. I literally slowed myself down to enjoy every single bite of it. The lamb wasdelicious and perfectly finished. If you're ordering drinks, I highly recommend the Rosemary's Baby. Sooooo smooth. We ate inthe outside area and it was so well done, comfortable and warm. If you're looking for a great place for a special night out orjust to get out for a nice date night, this would be the place. Read more

A great dining experience in Charlottesville. Impeccable service, gourmet food and nice drink selection. In a historic house... with a lot of charm. The sticky toffee pudding cake - wow. Homemade pasta with bolognese was delicious. Read more
