Go ahead and forgoe the chains. This is an institution not just locally, but for the entire state. I suppose I'm biased - I've... been enjoying the chicken here for 30 years, before the chains arrived. One caveat - if you're a Blue Devil or any storied UVArival - the walls are littered with random old schedules of various collegiate sports! Each time I promise myself I will removethat scrumptious crispy skin and when I'm done there's nary a trace of it on the plate. Wayside was good until last night. I was the biggest supporter by word of mouth until last night when I went in for a 3-piece... dark meat chicken dinner close to closing time. I was told the chicken would take 10 minutes which I was happy to wait becausethe chicken is that good. What I received was a 2-piece dark meat, 1-piece white meat of reheated chicken. Why would they ask meto wait 10 minutes for reheated tough chicken? I believe what I was sold was left over from the day reheated, oil not hotenough, chicken The place closed immediately after so I was not able to solve the issue. Leather tough chicken. They just took my money. I did not need to eat there but instead I wanted to eat there. No again and never around closing time. And, I am stillasking myself why the 10-minute wait?Where did they miraculously find 2-dark, 1-white tough pieces of chicken? Read more
