Had just under an hour to enjoy a bite and drink before a show. This was a return visit to The Gage. It was memorable last year,... and just as good this time too. The ambiance is classic and beautiful. Several staff were keeping an eye on the tables ensuringwater was always plentiful and tables cleared. Was well taken care of including flavor profile explanations being offered toensure it’s what I’m looking forward to when ordering. Enjoyed a nicely cooked scotch egg which was flavorful. And sparklingrose that was delicious. They say they rotate their cocktail list for the seasons, this rose matches the season in my opinion. Ienjoy that attention to detail. So good to be back! First time back and did not disappoint! Best apps were prawn cocktail and of course their signature scotch... egg (not to be missed!). Went here for a work dinner and really enjoyed it!! The food was delicious and the servers were all very friendly. Our group... definitely ordered too much, but we enjoyed every bite anyway. I'd recommend the mussels, the poutine, and the creme brulee.They had scallops as their special and I adored them. All in all, the menu was pretty standard but everything was topnotch. The restaurant has very dim lighting which definitely set the mood but did make reading the menu difficult from time totime.
