Great country cooking in a nostalgic setting of an old grocery store. Outstanding desserts. Very good service. Note......... within last 2 months new ownership has taken over the restaurant Unfortunately the service is not what it used to be, and thefood is also NOT prepared nearly as food and delicious as it was previously!!! We have been going here for years. But last couple of times, it has changed drastically. Same great atmosphere and music. But... service and food quality has gone down significantly. It seems that just teenagers are running this place and not very well. Idid not see one person who looked over 20 years old tonight. And nothing wrong with that. But they just did not seem veryfocused or that they even cared at all. Gave it another try tonight, but they just aren?t on their game at all. My food arrivedway before my friend?s. So waited for theirs to arrive too. After a while, server checked in and said he would go see where itwas. At that time, I also asked him to please bring honey mustard and that I did not have a roll on my plate. After he returnedwith second meal, I reminded him again of these items. They were never received and I didn?t ask again. And by that time, mymeal had been on table 20 minutes. So it was cold. Prices have gone up and portion sizes much smaller. Have always loved thefrozen fruit salad. Used to come in a normal sized bowl. Now it is in a very small cup, like a sauce would come in. Takes about2-3 bites for it to be gone. And I had about 5 corn nuggets, where as my friend had a bowl full. So no consistency either. Wouldhave chosen other side items had I known. So with no roll and barely any sides, basically paid $15 for just the coldmeat. Country fried steak had good flavor. But being cold meat and gravy was disappointing. But didn?t want to rudely eat whilemy friend waiting. Used to be hard to even get in here on Friday and Saturday evenings. Noticed this time, and the last, notnearly as many people there. Had no wait to be seated. That would have never happened before at 6:30 on a Friday night. Therewas a large party right by us. They also asked for a few items that they never received. The sides were spectacular, and if I went again I would get the veggie plate. The sweet tea was plenty superb! However, I was... dissatisfied with the chicken tenders and macaroni. The macaroni was not all that good, but the chicken tenders were prettygood. My problem with the chicken tenders was that they were small and I didn?t get as many as I thought I would.
