So, I'll start off with the good. I got a lemon and currant scone (primarily because I feel currant based things are hard to... get in the states. ) It was quite good and I enjoyed it. I also got a cappuccino. It was ok, average in my opinion. Finefor the price. However, like many other reviewers, I was surprised by the customer service. I went there mainly because Ineeded to eat something before an appointment. But, I REALLY needed to use the restroom first. So, I located the restroom touse it prior to ordering. The older man (same one everyone complains about) asked me if I needed help. I told him I was usingthe restroom before ordering. He said that the restroom was only for customers, and I replied that I WAS planning onordering, but I needed to use the restroom first. Guy LITERALLY waved me off and turned away, as if shooing someone. I guesshe didn't feel like bothering with me. And look, I know I wear a backpack. Need it to carry all my stuff for school. Butassuming that I wasn't a paying customer is rude, as was his response. After I ordered, I finally got a smile out of him, but Ilikely wont be a back. Got curious while waiting and checked out the reviews. There's a pattern here. And they say they"like sass" and that this business is stressful (I'm sure it is), there's no reason to treat people like this. Check out theowner's responses to reviews and you'll see what I mean. Surly service in a sweet Cafe with fabulous pastries. I felt unwelcome from the moment I stepped in the door and was ignored. I... ordered and ran out as fast as I could. Reading other's reviews makes me understand this is business practice, and it's sad;even with pandemic stress why beat up on customers trying to support you? I was so disappointed because a friend loves thisplace and while I drive by nearly every day, I'd never stopped. Figuring out the parking is challenging and I drove around andparked in the front, down a bit. My croissant was flaky and tasty but the coffee, meh. $8 Probably won't go back, ever. Read more
I have visited approximately 6 times in the past year. I walk over from Taussig Cancer Center while my husband gets treatment. I... wish the two behind the counter realized that, due to where this Cafe is located, the chances of getting a customer in need ofkindness are high. They aren?t friendly but I?ve overlooked that because the food is good. Today I left disappointed in the wayI was treated. I too work in the service industry and cannot support this business anymore. My husband and I come all the way from Medina county just to get the pastries and bread here,and we are close to 80 years old.... They are the best anywhere and worth the trip. I usually call to order, because we come so far and can't get there until after2, and they maybe sold out. The owner is fine. He is a no.nonsense kind of guy, but has always treated us well. I would think bythe time we get there he has been.working for over 12 hours, with a few more to go before leaving. We have never eaten there, because we try to beat traffic home. We have never been anything but happy with anything we have taken out of there. As long aswe are able to.make that trip, we will be going. Read more
