Cracker Barrel has never been and never will be authentic country food or soul food or whatever you want to call it. I know the... real thing and this ain't it nor did I expect it to be. However, there was a time when one at least had an acceptable mealthere. But recently I ordered take out consisting of 3 lunch servings of chicken and dumplings. None of them had a singlepiece of chicken in them. Not even a hint of chicken taste. Just rubbery dough with flour/corn starchy gravy. Upon arrival athome, I opened the bags to find no utensils or napkins, and no butter for the 6 pieces of corn bread. Luckily I brought thefood home where I have utensils and butter. It has been a while since eating here and was so disappointed. Slow to get a waitress to take our drink order. Our food arrived... quickly, but it was only warm. Ordered chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and fried okra. Okra wasn't freshly cooked andthe chicken had been in a warmer, but not hot or fresh. Okra was so bad I couldn't eat it all. Update: I sent corporate my infoand a week later no response. So I guess poor service goes all the way to corporate. Read more

Our family of five arrived and checked in with hostess inside, received confirmation of arrival text via the app at 5:46 PM. Was... told that wait time for a dinner table would be roughly 20-25 minutes. No biggie, considering it is Thanksgiving Evening andboth the restaurant and store sides were full to capacity. Nearly an hour later, my husband went inside to check our tablestatus?. Kids were beyond restless and starting to bicker amongst themselves. He waves us in from the porch and we are thenpromptly seated. ?? Our check-in info had been gobbled up by the system and lost. Not cool. This is the reason for only twostars. However, the food was very good and on point! We ordered two children?s meals and three adult meals, ticket total plustip was $75. Which we feel was more than reasonable!
