They charge 31 dollars for a Manhattan with well bourbon. Great drink but twice the price of any fine bar. Also their signature... cocktails are 22 dollars. Why the high high price? No respect for their guest. Read more
We figured the drinks would be fairly expensive but we decided to have a drink because of the views and atmosphere. Bad choice.... Both drinks, Blue Californian and the Mai Tai were literally disgusting. Oh well, enjoyed our visit to the hotel regardless. Read more
Location/Atmosophere: 5 Stars Drinks/Food: 4 Stars Price/Value: 2 Stars Service: 3 Stars Spent a late morning, early... afternoon, walking the beach and ended up at the Hotel Coronado. This historic hotel is a treat to experience and recommend allto check out, especially if you love the beach. We ended up (party of 8) at the Babcock and Story Bar for a drink or two.Cocktails were good and their house blonde Hotel del California ?Some like it blonde? ale was terrific. I highly recommend thisbeer. We had sodas, drinks, and a few rounds of french fries. You come here paying for location and experience (plus it?s a So.Cal. hotel so it going to be pricey). The service was ok at best. The spot appears to be understaffed and considering yourpaying $8 for a soda refills were tough to come by. Server was somewhat friendly but hustling around what seemed to be most ofthe place during a sort of busy time of day (lunch time on a Sunday). Overall a nice time and I would probably come back as it?sa special experience. If you go be prepared for lackluster service, overpriced items, and be prepared to wait?but while you waitenjoy the amazing view and great weather at this historic spot. Read more
I love the classic feel of this bar, and what a perfect location: almost right on the beach. Great history, too. The drinks are... spendy and small, so be prepared for that. I got the blood sage smash, which was refreshing and perfect. My parents got Moscowmules, and they were terrible - the ginger beer tasted flat. I didn't know you could have a terrible Moscow mule. It was toughto get service at first, but our server was very nice once we got going. Read more
