I tried this place today and it lived up to the hype in some ways, but fell pitifully short in others. I got chicken wings,... which were delightfully smoky and still juicy, and burnt ends, which were fantastic. The smoked chicken was a little on the dryside, but it had good flavor. Their meats definitely qualify as, probably, the best bbq in the area. And their cornbread wassweet, if also a little dry. Where things fell apart was their sides. I got their “3-cheese Mac” and it’s without doubtone of the worst things I’ve ever eaten. It’s like they just took one of the glass jars of cheez whiz and plopped some ontop of noodles. It was just plain awful. That they think something like that is good to serve to people paying their hard earnedmoney for a meal loses them an entire star on principle. It was truly atrocious, which is surprising because it’s really nothard to make good Mac & Cheese. We also had fries and brisket beans, each of which was fine, but nothing special. It’simportant that sides are at the same level as the main entrees, as customers want a complete experience. But the staff waspleasant and the restaurant has a nice ambiance. The place is certainly worth a try. My recommendation is just order the meatand make your own sides. And if someone you are with tries to order the Mac & Cheese and care about them in the slightest, physically restrain them. You’ll find a better version in a prison mess hall. Read more

Being from Kansas City, I'm not really impressed by bbq in other cities. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the ribs... and brisket here at Firewater BBQ! The ribs had a wonderful flavor to them, due to their hand rub. The brisket, which is noteasy to cook, was very tasteful while not being too "fatty". With a choice of 5 flavors of sauces you're sure to find somethingyou like. I love the sweet sauce! When I walked in and was greeted by Karen and her sense of humor, I knew I was in for a greatexperience! I love places that make you feel like you're visiting a friend's house. Firewater is one of those places. Kristen,Michael and Krystal, were definitely working as a team in the kitchen; everything was prepared quickly, and what seemed likeeffortlessly! The presentation of the good was beautiful; you almost don't want to dig in to it; but you will!! I would happilyrecommend this place to anyone who knows good bbq! That's for a great experience! I travel for work, and anytime I’m in town I will come here. The food was amazing - I had the brisket and jumbo wings.... They’re indeed jumbo, and they’re served with sauce on the side. Honestly, I ate almost all the wings without sauce becausethey were SOO good by themselves. The other reason I will come back - local dedication. The number of regulars that camethrough just while I was waiting for my food was incredibly impressive. The staff knew so many of their customer’s names andusual orders. Can’t wait to come back! First time experience and it was fabulous. Whomever was cooking on 6/3 did an awesome job! Our pulled pork was tender, juicy and... tastie. We also had rib tips, chicken wings and corn bread. It had to be the best we tasted in a while, aside from homemade. Our Siberian Husky even loved it and he is the fussiest pup around. We were very careful in his taste test. We will order againand hope to have the same experience, as we have a large family, so it was worth what we spent. It made our celebration special. Thank you!! Read more

Horrible experience this place has lost it. Will never go back there again. Was there yesterday around 4:30 placed an order for... rib tip dinner to go and after waiting for almost 30 minutes finally received my so-called food, only to realize that the ribtips were so dry and hard besides the fact that they were terribly burned and had a soaplike taste. So passed off that I didn'tbother to call or return. Threw away my $15.81 away. Would not feed any animal this food. Worst place ever now in my books. ???? Read more
