Didn't stay in the lodge. But Dined with several friends in the Restaurant. I gave the food a 5 star it was cooked perfectly.... Serving sizes were more than enough. Price range 15 to 40ish a plate. Terrible experience! Our dinner experience was horrible! There were black flies so plentiful we spent the entire meal trying... unsuccessfully to keep them from landing on our food. There were at least a dozen large black flies around our table constantlylanding on our food, not just one or two. Our server agreed "they have been terrible lately." When a management staff personcame she also agreed the flies were a problem but stated "I don't know what I can do about it." I wonder what the food wasexposed to in the kitchen before it came to our table! I think the staff there had normalized the situation with the flies andwere unconcerned with their presence. They seemed unconcerned when I sent our food back uneaten and the bill charged a fullprice for the meal. On reviewing my bill two days later we discovered we had been charged $80 for two prime rib meals we didn'treceive. The server told us after ordering the prime rib that they would not be ready for at least 40 minutes, so we changedour order but never received the prime ribs. (We were also charged for the replacement meals we ordered but had returned dueto flies landing on them!) If the staff had this attitude about food safety for flies in public parts of their business, Isuspect they have equally little regard for sanitary practices in less noticeable parts of the restaurant where food isprepared! In a nutshell, the best restaurant to watch a sunset, great Wednesday night steak special, walleye excellent as well. Our... server, Sarah, was great, very attentive and last, but not least, the glue that holds the whole restaurant together is thephenomenal manager, Fred. I don't even know if I can give a 1 star rating. We (38 of us) stayed at Manhattan beach lodge for the weekend. We recognize... staff shortages are everywhere but the place is falling apart and garbage was stacked out of the one can available for all roomsright at the front entrance and hallways. No help at front desk. Restaurant was not available to those staying but you couldorder to go only. Overcharge on rooms and the whitefish chain told me there was nothing they could do. I called the accountingoffice but you get a voicemail that announces it can't accept anymore voicemails and to call back another time. We visited 11years ago when this place was one of the better resorts and sad to see they are letting the property go down the drain. We willnot return and would not recommend to anyone.
