Overall it was a good tex mex restaurant, though it wasn?t the best. It?s been a few days since I visited, and I can?t recall... the best dish. It?s like, everything is fine but nothing so special. I liked their chips and queso but their guacamole was soblend. I got Cancun dish and all the enchiladas were pretty hard and filling wasn?t even. Felt like it was premade and reheatedor something like that. Mexican rice was good though I felt weird seeing carrots and peas with it.. margarita was good but it?sthose sweet sour margaritas you can buy from Costco. It was a good try. Read more
I had never been to this place but am always looking for new Tex-Mex places to try so I gave it a shot Friday night. Their... frozen margaritas tasted like they forgot the tequila. I mentioned it to our waiter and he was quite dismissive. I mentioned ita second time and he said that it did happen sometimes. It should never happen! No attempt to correct it either. When we lived in Dallas, this was one of our absolute neighborhood go to restaurants. Just visited after years, and it hasn't... changed, which is a good thing! Incredible Mexican food (fresh, tasty and a great variety) and fantastic service. 5+ stars! Read more

I love this restaurant, been eating here for over 20 years (back when it was located on McKinney St.), I ate here last night and... was extremely disappointed. 1. THE "FOOD, AS USUAL, was spectacular, so good, so fresh; delicious! (now the reason for thelow rating, below): 2. They charged me $1.62 service charge for a to-go order 3. The cashier was rude, was evasive, neversaid hello, never said goodnight, NEVER SAID "THANKS or THANK YOU", never made any type of eye-contact 4. The menu on YELP, wasnothing like the actual pricing (Yelp does have such a disclaimer stating the actual menu/pricing "could" be different. In somecases, the ACTUAL pricing was almost double the price on Yelp. 5. My special requests were NOT honored (I had asked for somecorn tortillas, which are free; they were not included), etc. SHAME, SHAME on Rafa's -- you can certain ascertain that Raphaelno longer owns this historical restaurant. I was so disappointed that my bill was almost $35 for a standard plate dinner and asmall queso. I'll think twice before ordering from them; this is very, very good Mexican food, but it's not worth $35 (Ididn't order beef tenderloin or shrimp or salmon, right?) Disappointed! Read more
