Way out in the southwest corner of Boca Raton, where there are a cornucopia of Latin restaurants, rests El Bacon. Having my eye... on this place for sometime and finding myself out that way this particular evening the timing was right. It wasn?t particularbusy, so the service was attentive and efficient. It?s not a high end, nor expensive restaurant, but that doesn?t mean it lacksquality in any way. Starting with chicharron ceviche, fried pork belly with an accompanying tangy vinaigrette sauce for dipping,I was a bit let down as the pork pieces were overdone, rendering them unable to be chewed without breaking a few teeth. Theydid, however, replace it with a dish of larger, more tender pieces of pork belly chunks which is what we were hoping for fromthe start. A marked improvement. For the mains, we split the chicken breast topped with a house mushroom gravy as well as thecarne asada, pictured here. Both were tender, juicy and packed with delicious charred flavorful. While normally served with carboverload, we opted for the salad and broccoli. Both were above average than what one would expect as a side dish. Quiteenjoyable indeed.
